Stealing a important religious book from a public library then lighting it on fire is a dick move. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] Books provide knowledge and opinions to the masses. Burning them is just showing your massive ignorance to the public.
Does Twilight fall in that category? I'm all for burning that.
A book is source of knowledge, no matter what it says inside. Read Fahrenheit 451
fahrenheit 451 was about how much bradbury hated TV
what the fuck does that even mean
burning a book = you don't want to know what it says = you don't want to learn is it not simple
fahrenheit 451 was about how much bradbury hated TV
WHAAAAAAAAT!? Have you even read the book!? They burned down houses because OF BOOKS!
Does Twilight fall in that category? I'm all for burning that.
people who get outraged about burning the qu'ran would be perfectly okay with burning twilight because they pick and choose and don't know what they believe and just want to seem deep [editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
burning a book = you don't want to know what it says = you don't want to learn what it has to say is it not simple
so you can only burn a book if you didn't read it?
'He would certainly not want Muslim people to think he had problems with their beliefs.
what a joke
What about burning poppies? It's an offence to my country and they got off practically scott-free. Someone burns a book and gets jail time, fucking ridiculous...
Hi I'm going to quote my post for you
Quoting this for all the morans who are going to come in this thread and complain about how much of an injustice this is without actually reading the article:
The court heard the defendant had six public order convictions between 2002 and 2010 including racial chanting at a football match and assault with intent to resist arrest. Judge Chalk said: 'You are a man who has a history of violence and disorderly conduct.'
There's no reason him shouting "what about burning poppies" warrants its own news article and this is a great example of how a news organization can exhibit political bias simply by choosing what to call news, without having to twist facts or lie

people who get outraged about burning the qu'ran would be perfectly okay with burning twilight because they pick and choose and don't know what they believe and just want to seem deep [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] so you can only burn a book if you didn't read it?
I'm not okay with burning any kind of book! And no! It means if you burn a book, you are unwilling to read it and therefore attempt to understand it.
Possibly Kirrimir is not offended by book burning because he doesn't know how to read???
what the fuck does that even mean
Now you're just being a retard.
so you can only burn a book if you didn't read it?
no what kind of question is that and how does that relate to my post
Possibly Kirrimir is not offended by book burning because he doesn't know how to read???
well then NO WONDER HE DIDN'T READ YOUR POSTS hahahahah
Does Twilight fall in that category? I'm all for burning that.
They may be terrible books full of disgustingly bland dialogue, a forgettable cast, hackneyed plot points, and has inspired a hoard of rabid fan girls the likes of Jesus Christ has yet to see, but they're still books of arguable cultural significance. Plus, they've actually gotten more people to read, which isn't that bad.
I seriously was confused because I thought the article was about that idiot in Florida who did it before, and thought he screamed something about burning puppies. The theft is the real crime, the stupidity and racism are not. The whole thing is fucking stupid, and even if the other guy did something comparably stupid, this did nothing beneficial, you just pissed people off is all, prompting more anger and conflict. You know, I'd like it if everyday for a week, all TVs across the country played a program actually informing people about the reality of things like Islam, Nuclear Power, Stupid Conservatives, and things like that. Just pick enough subjects that are currently grossly misunderstood and let people see them as they really are, not as people pretend they are.
well then NO WONDER HE DIDN'T READ YOUR POSTS hahahahah
that was the joke thisispain! that was my joke!!! [editline]19th April 2011[/editline]
Now if only we could get people to read books like 1984 or the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I'm pretty sure most high school students are forced to read 1984
Now if only we could get people to read books like 1984 or the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Baby steps, my friend, baby steps.
that was the joke thisispain! that was my joke!!!
i know thank you for giving it to me
Now you're just being a retard.
sorry I don't grasp meaningless feelings about books. I guess I'm not deep enough
sorry I don't grasp meaningless feelings about books. I guess I'm not deep enough
No, you're just a fool with a good heart but a fool nonetheless.
sorry I don't grasp meaningless feelings about books. I guess I'm not deep enough
Or you're a sad little munchkin that has yet to read a good book. I'd rather assume that.
well if you were tree-hugging you'd be against books and you'd burn them to be against the mass-paper industry
But, wouldn't tree huggers also be against burning books? The inks, and chemicals used in paper production are toxic when incinerated at four hundred fifty one degrees. On topic: Well, he did have prior arrests, and he did steal a book, so this seems just.
Baby steps, my friend, baby steps.
Fine...Starship Troopers then :v:
Or you're a sad little munchkin that has yet to read a good book. I'd rather assume that.
you're getting really upset about somebody burning paper with words on them and I'm the sad one
you're getting really upset about somebody burning paper with words on them and I'm the sad one
*with eyes closed* well maybe you haven't discovered the intellectual gift of reading like i have
you're getting really upset about somebody burning paper with words on them and I'm the sad one
....You're a fucking idiot. There is just no way around this.
Honestly I don't care if you burn a book aslong as you purchase it first, it's your loss of knowledge - not mine.
The reason he got a higher punishment than the Muslim was because he had a past history of racism and violence.
sorry I don't grasp meaningless feelings about books. I guess I'm not deep enough
Caring about books is illogical. I will die alone.
He got a seperate sentence for the theft of the book. It will run concurrently with his 70 day prison sentence which was entirely for burning the Qur'an. Also it's nice to see everyone who was defending the poppy burner's right of free speech coming out of the woodwork to condemn this man. [editline]19th April 2011[/editline] Wait. He stole a book... ...from a library.
