I mean I have enjoyed the Half life series myself, never was a fan of the original but I would never call the series god like. It game me my money's worth and led me to Garry's mod.
Half Life 1 I enjoyed.
Beginning of HL2 I hated due to the sudden enemy change, but I soon adapted, got into the story and enjoyed it.
Ep1/Ep2 Enjoyed, though I found Ep2 A little less enjoyable than episode 1.
Also to counter crowbar being OP, you're in a body suit that drugs you with all sorts of shit.

I actually tried to play metroid prime 1 a year ago. i hated it.
then my memory card died, and i tried again.
still hated it, but thats just my opinion. and an unpopular one at that.
so is liking the most innovative failure of all time, jurassic park trespasser. shit had on the spot foley sound mixing, a physics engine, ragdolls, no hud, full arm movement, and some wacky ragdoll animation thing. the game is still shit, but i love it. dont know why I posted this, but whatever

whoa ok dude I generally at least partially agree with you here but what the fuck is this shit
to say that FO3 is a great game but HL2 is not is absolute insanity, as both are so heavily tied into [I]story [/I]as opposed to gameplay. FO3's shooting was [B]shit.[/B] The only reason to play it was to further immerse yourself into the environment, which is exactly what Half Life is designed to do. If you're going to go into the whole RPG side of it with the different skill sets, there's no real depth to it, it's just a shooter, it plays the same way no matter what weapons / tactics you use. It is always the same. I loved FO3 as well but that sure as hell wasn't because it was any gigantic leap in FPS's. HL2 is about immersion, as is FO3. FO3 without the immersive aspect is essentially one of the shittiest shooters in existence (insane spread, no real consistency, takes dozens of bullets to kill anything and headshots do practically nothing unless you use VATs).
so what I'm saying is the exact reasons that FO3 is a good game are the reasons that you're saying don't justify HL2 being a good game.

I'm sorry but I really don't think Half-Life 2 is the perfect game. There are flaws, just like any other game. It's a [i]great[/i] one, sure, and it was ahead of it's time, (I suppose,) but that doesn't change the fact saying there's nothing even remotely bad about it is just a fanboy move.
But, moving on; guy who wrote the five reasons is just an ass or is trying his best at satire.

What I meant was it does not look revolutionary when you compare it to games these days, but it very well was back when it came out.
