Okay okay, here is what Half Life is
You look at a combine (or marine, if it's HL1) you hold down click, you start shooting at them, they start shooting at you. You both take damage but since you have more health you win. Then you find health packs in oh so cleverly placed corners so you survive and repeat.
That is half life. It's a fucking FPS. You point and things and click. Where's the game?
Sure there were cool parts like the boat part or the car part or the crane part, but they were too infrequent. Especially in Half Life 1 where you do NOTHING but look at marines, hold down fire, and wait to see who dies first.
Let's take a game like Call of Duty 4, pretty much every single mission you're doing something new. While sure, most of it is still pointing and clicking, each level is doing something different so it stays fresh. Not the case with Half Life, where you fight combine in the whole fucking game.
Or maybe a game like Dead Space. The game had serious atmosphere, something people claim exists in Half Life but I don't feel it. Not like I feel it in Dead Space. Dead Space even had fucking game mechanics for god's sake. Dismemberment, inventory, all that good stuff. Half Life just has, shooting. That's really it.

Well I played HL2 first, thought it wasn't too great, but since [B]everyfuckingbody[/B] on the internet says it's great and even explains why, I try playing it again, but still there's nothing. And I still can never figure out why people like Half Life games. It's almost like a bandwagon but they actually believe it, if that makes any sense.
Then I played Episode one, was super crap, didn't finish. Episode 2 was my favorite. It started off like shit. Boring ass-looking antlion caves for the first level? It's as if they expect that I play all the half life games in one sitting. But then things got okay, with the turrets and the driving and the silo place and whatnot. Still not worthy of a 9/10, probably worth a 6 or 7.
Then I got Half Life 1 when it was on sale for 98 cents. I mainly wanted it for mods and Gmod parts, textures etc. But I thought I should try the game since [B]everyfuckingbody[/B] says it's great. And it was probably one of the shittiest games I've ever played. Like even Bad Company 2 is better than this. There's just nothing but shooting things and running in either easy to follow levels or giant mazes. It's so confusing and it's bullshit.
