Gordon Freeman is just a name and face to go with the game. They might as well have said YOUR NAME when you were playing, because you're supposed to be Gordon Freeman. They say Gordon Freeman, sure, but if ANYONE but you responded it'd break the immersion that you're Gordon.

I think you completely missed the point of entire series. So far, only Episode Two is focusing on motives behind G-Man.
