• U.S. deploys more troops to the Middle East in response to Iranian threats to close Strait Of Hormuz

I'm in two minds over this. On one hand, it is a deliberately provocative move by Iran, but on the other hand, it's their stretch of water. They don't have a duty to keep it open to the rest of the world. I do feel like everyone is kinda meddling in their business a bit.
Powerful?
why does everyone have this attitude that any country that isn't in europe/isn't the US has a shit military that couldn't do anything these guys have ICBMs and a large navy. come on guys. think with your head.
I'm not necessarily pro-sanctions. But the U.S. government is, and any attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz will inevitably lead to some sort of US-NATO response, and I think most citizens of this planet would like to avoid that as much as possible.
a war is absolutely the last thing anyone on this planet wants [tab]except republicans[/tab]
it's funny because you're generalizing the republican population
it was a joke, get over yourself.
doesn't anyone find it funny how Amurricans pronounce Iran like "I ran"? Pretty dumb and makes things confusing. Also when I heard an amurrican friend of mine say antibiotics I lost it. :v:
Iran does what Iran wants and has the right to The US sanction Iran Iran sanctions the US The US threaten Iran with war because their oil is in danger Sounds reasonable.
Yeah! Only Russia should be allowed to fuck around in the Middle East!
Case in point: Syria
Does Iran have sole control over the strait? What about the UAE or Oman?
UAE is actually almost finished with building a pipeline to it's East Coast so the UAE doesn't have to worry too much about it's oil shipments
Then perhaps the US and her Allies should stay out of other country's business. They are fucking around in the wrong part of the world and Russia won't put up with it forever. You wake up the Sleeping bear and we can all look forward to playing Fallout 3 for real.
russia probably likes that the us is messing around in the middle east, so russia can expand its influence in its former soviet states
russia probably likes that the us is messing around in the middle east, so russia can expand its influence in its former soviet states
I'm sure while the US is on that they will be sending lads into Kazakhstan Uzbekistan and Armenia and Azerbaijan, sure why not?
I'm sure while the US is on that they will be sending lads into Kazakhstan Uzbekistan and Armenia and Azerbaijan, sure why not?
Isn't Russia already doing that though.. they are creating some USSR revival.

Yeah, they have shitloads of oil, and pretty good relations with the US. Get over your retarded "oh its4oil111!" mentality, it's not like Iran is the only country in the world that has oil. Hell, Canada, our northern neighbor, has more oil then Iraq and Afghanistan combined, and you'd still say we were there for the oil.

People realized that was stupid back in 2005. If we go in, we go in because the US government is trying to preserve its stance in the region and on the world stage.

Iran is trying to build nuclear reactors to supply its country with nuclear energy and possibly nuclear weapons. We let South Africa (apartheid) and Israel (active apartheid) build nuclear weapons yet Iran which has far less human rights abuses on its record is the most evil country in the world... The US is trying to preserve its interests in the region which are oil and weapons... and of course power. Yeah Saudi Arabia has oil and that is exactly why the US has a constant troop presence there and turns a blind eye to all the shit that Saudi Arabia does. Why else would Nato go in to Libya so quickly and not into Syria? Why else would the US give two shits about Kuwait (fun fact: Kuwait kept selling oil really cheap to the US so Iraq decided to invade them)? They also sell a metric fuckton of weapons to nations in the middle-east and it needs to have friendly governments in order to keep doing so. Really the US should be cosying up to Venezuela since they have the biggest oil reserves, thankfully Chavez keeps saying 'fuck you' to the US.

Your other points are laughable, so let me dismantle them: "Why else would Nato go in to Libya so quickly and not into Syria?" I dunno it's this little thing called oh yeah russian energy reserves Also the US was not involved in the NATO intervention into Libya, so that's some bunk right there. "Why else would the US give two shits about Kuwait (fun fact: Kuwait kept selling oil really cheap to the US so Iraq decided to invade them)?" Nevermind the fact that a genocidal dictator invaded a sovereign country and was planning to invade another and had widespread human rights abuses. Obviously we invaded them for the oil (which we import very little of from the middle east - see above). "They also sell a metric fuckton of weapons to nations in the middle-east" Yes. So does Russia, France, and the UK. Are you going to scream at the french for supplying the mirage fighters that allowed Israel to be THE predominant air power in the 60s/70s? "[...] and it needs to have friendly governments in order to keep doing so." Not at all. See contra affair.

Their navy is smaller than the US fleet in the middle east and is about twenty years behind the US right now.
Also we do get a significant chunk of our oil from Venezuela so I don't know what the fuck point you're trying to make there except that Chavez is fucking insane?
You are over there for oil, you aren't in Canada because you tried doing it in 1812, but got your whitehouse burn't down instead.
Might of had something to do with the fact that we had no military back then smart ass. And if you think the war of 1812 was over oil you need to fucking learn basic history.
You are over there for oil, you aren't in Canada because you tried doing it in 1812, but got your whitehouse burn't down instead.
Nevermind that it was the british who burned it down (and that Canada already supplies shitloads of oil for us) also, burn't? bur not? is this some new slang terminology?
Hahaha you guys actually fucking took that seriously. I'm surprised to be honest.

What if the US army went out of all the fucking countries they were in already, I bet it would solve a lot of stuff.
