you don't have the 'right' to express your opinion regardless of what it is on an internet forum. it's at the forum administrators discretion. facepunch doesn't tolerate racism or homophobia or sexism and now it seems it does not tolerate transphobia either. if you have a problem with that i'm sure there are other forums that DO tolerate these things
Funny how this seems to always be the case, and yet, FPers are always crusading all over SH for freedom of expression/freedom of speech. Some people here see no problem in allowing internet porn access for children or allowing supremacist groups to congregate, but God forbid anyone have a *gasp* different opinion on an internet forum! Anyone has a right to say whatever they damn well please, even racists, homophobes, and sexists. That doesn't mean they aren't assholes, but why should some groups get special protection on here? When was the last time you saw anyone getting banned for Islamophobia or xenophobia or Christianophobia or antisemitism? There is a glaringly obvious double standard on FP, and it needs to stop. You either support equal treatment for all, or for none. You can't cherry pick these things, and then turn around and claim to support any form of freedom.

Because it isn't good to discriminate? How is it a right to insult someone for their skin color, sexuality, etc?
Would it be my right to say "You're opinion is dumb because you're American"? No, of course not.
Nobody should be banned for their opinion.
They should be banned if they're being a douchebag about it.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying you can't voice an opinion, I'm saying being straight out racist, homophobic, etc isn't something that should be OK.
Nobody should be banned for their opinion.
They should be banned if they're being a douchebag about it.

Except you can say that, and no one would do jack shit about it because, evidently, Americans don't count as a group that gets total power over freedom of expression just by arguing, "bu-but, dey hurts muh feelins!". Once again, either ban all bigots, or ban none. You can't let people say something as offensive as "Muslims are camel-fucking ragheads!", but then turn around and ban someone for saying something as simple as "I think transsexuals are unnatural". That's hypocrisy, and it's completely unfair.

As far as I've seen throughout my 6 years in Facepunch, going around saying things that were clearly racist, homophobic, misogynist, or in your examples, etc never helped them, only got them to be hated and got them banned. All of them.
You can't let people say something as offensive as "Muslims are camel-fucking ragheads!"
Buuuut we ban them too?
Buuuut we ban them too?
I have yet to see anyone banned for Islamophobia. Or bigotry against any religion, for that matter. It seems almost like FP is saying "We can't let you hate gays, women, or blacks, but we CAN let you go vent your bigotry and hatred against those Muslims/Christians/foreigners/Jews/whoever else isn't a majority here." Certain groups are targeted, and you can be as hateful as you want towards them, without repercussions.
I have yet to see anyone banned for Islamophobia
You obviously haven't been here long enough
I'd like if you showed some examples though
I get away with saying all sorts of anti-religious stuff, but I tend to generalize all of religion as a whole instead of singling any specific one out so it's easy to get away with?
It is a little dumb that some things are ban triggers while others aren't. Like, what if someone hated ALL races? Does their lack of specificity grant immunity?
I dunno, all I know is it really isn't the topic at hand. The topic is this young lady and her victory for both herself and equal rights all around.

For gods sake look up balance fallacy. An opinion (a term I use loosely) rooted in bigotry and ignorance is not entitled to respect or immunity from repercussions. If you want your web forum to be a place for racists and homophobes to spread hatred and harm people by all means go make your own.

You can be anti religion because religion is a choice and you can make valid criticisms against it (aka not ignorant islamophobic posts). Being anti trans or anti gay or anti black is just straight up hatred.
Of course it is, it shows that transgender people are getting more fairly treated like they deserve. She's the first transgirl in the US to be crowned homecoming queen. It's less that she got homecoming queen per se and more the fact that a transgirl in high school is the person who won and for the first time in US history.
And considering you (slayer) rated a post like this dumb it sounds to me you're upset that you cant be a bigot without getting banned.

No, I rated it dumb because I agreed with the person they were responding to in that I don't believe this is very newsworthy. I'm not a bigot, I'm not against trans people, by any means. I simply feel that there is unfairness with the way things are done. It's basically:
"Agree with us or we ban you!"
"But what about all that stuff you guys say about freedom?"
"Okay, you have the freedom to agree with us or we ban you!"
Really, what's the point of freedom of speech if everyone goes to pieces the second an unpopular opinion is said? It just feels like a bunch of hypocrisy to me.

Except that this doesn't happen at all

Why isn't it newsworthy and please show me the FP Constitution where we're guaranteed freedom of speech.
I'll be the asshole in this thread to get hated on.
I support Gay / Lesbian and everything with them. Marriage and the such. Not my place to say how they should live.
But Transgender in my opinion takes it way too far to where I think it's just completely weird. It's hard to "support" something that's completely against everything I think is even remotely normal. Like I said before, I shouldn't tell people how to live and if that's what his/her choice is then fine. But I think it's completely ridiculous and in my opinion disgusting.
An argument may be "Just because you aren't like them, doesn't mean you should force your belief on others". You could say the same thing for a lot of extreme topics. I disagree with transgenderism completely. It's just overboard and obnoxious in my opinion. I'm not forcing my opinion on them at all, I'm just disagreeing completely with their idea of what is normal and think it's messed up.
Here comes the hate train.
And you agreed with this obviously bigoted post so idk what you're trying to scamper away from.

How is a situation in that people are being degraded on have something good happen to them despite all the hate, not news worthy?
IT'S NEWS, EVERYTHING IS SHOWN ON THE NEWS.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with this situation, all that's about is stopping the government from making it illegal to say certain things. This isn't the government, this is a privately owned forum and the people who run it can choose what they want to allow here. Your free speech rights aren't affected at all by not being able to post on Facepunch - if you don't like the rules you can make your own forum.
