legit suprised at the number of people in this thread calling it genital mutilation or something to that effect. that's a little emotionally charged when you are in effect considering it to actual genital mutilation
its genital mutilation because its mutilation of the genitals
its genital mutilation because its mutilation of the genitals
depends on how you define mutilation Wikipedia says: Mutilation or maiming is an act of physical injury that degrades the appearance or function of any living body. It definitely changes the appearance, whether it degrades it is opinion. In general, the ways in which function can be degraded contains errors in the surgery, which is an inherent problem in any medical procedure. Any sexual effects are dubious and have yet to be really supported by science. (per https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3881635/)
It degrades function by numbing the tip and leading to loss of sensation through overstimulation.
got a source for that?
Wow, I started to feel bad for having a circumcised penis after reading this thread even though I still do enjoy sex.
got a source for that?
Ask literally any person who has ever been circumcized in later life, ever.
Ask literally any person who has ever been circumcized in later life, ever.
I didn't notice a difference.
Ask literally any person who has ever been circumcized in later life, ever.
the fact you would point to anecdotes instead of supplying a real source shows your argument is garbage
Circumcision should be outlawed as it provides no medical benefit, the child cannot consent, and it is irreversible. Regardless of whether or not it reduces sensation (it does in-arguably, there are a ridiculous amount of nerves in the foreskin) In addition to the above, botched circumcisions happen quite a bit. NSFW, deformed penises. You have been warned. http://www.circumstitions.com/Restric/Botched1sb.html It's an outdated practice that serves no medical benefit except in the case of very extreme phimosis. People believe foreskins to be dirty, unsanitary, or "abnormal" and that's just not the case. [editline]16th May 2016[/editline]
the fact you would point to anecdotes instead of supplying a real source shows your argument is garbage
It is by definition mutilation. It's the same thing as cutting off your kid's earlobes.
the fact you would point to anecdotes instead of supplying a real source shows your argument is garbage
I'm circumcised and I call it genital mutilation and I actually told my ex I would never have kids with her because she told me there was no chance I would convince her not to circumcise.
the fact you would point to anecdotes instead of supplying a real source shows your argument is garbage
Source: The definition of the words "genital" and "mutilation". You cited them above. Removing the foreskin without consent is genital mutilation.
I'm circumcised and I call it genital mutilation and I actually told my ex I would never have kids with her because she told me there was no chance I would convince her not to circumcise.
oh yeah we'll i'm circumcised and i think otherwise. now what?????? seriously that's how annoying this argument gets and it's too predictable in this section
All of these replies are only proving my point--people get emotional about circumcision for largely no reason.
All of these replies are only proving my point--people get emotional about circumcision for largely no reason.
Really because it looks like you are the one becoming emotional over the very applicable phrase "genital mutilation" to cover a procedure that literally mutilates the genitals.
All of these replies are only proving my point--people get emotional about circumcision for largely no reason.
I only get emotional because I suffered nerve damage. I can understand counter arguments. But I don't really see why I had to suffer nerve damage that largely numbed my genitalia for something I didn't consent to.
Really because it looks like you are the one becoming emotional over the very applicable phrase "genital mutilation" to cover a procedure that literally mutilates the genitals.
Regardless of whether it is or it isn't mutilation, using the term to refer to circumcision is a purely inflammatory emotional tactic due to its association with far more heinous acts. Putting it up there with cutting someone's arm off or making them unable to walk is just an appeal to emotion.

You want people to stop using the definition because it makes you feel uncomfortable. You are the one appealing to emotion.
Why not just let circumcised people be happy with themselves instead of calling us all mutilated?
Why not just let circumcised people be happy with themselves instead of calling us all mutilated?
this doesn't even make sense
Why not just let circumcised people be happy with themselves instead of calling us all mutilated?
The practice is genital mutilation. The fact of the matter is, for all the people who don't notice a difference because they never knew anything else. There are people like me who can barely feel any stimulation. I actually get pretty irritated when people tell me circumcision makes people last longer, because in my case that is actually my problem. I can have sex for hours without actually reaching an orgasm. A lot of the time not reaching an orgasm at all. I don't know how widespread male faking is but I've had to do it a lot to not cause an upset.
All of these replies are only proving my point--people get emotional about circumcision for largely no reason.
Ey buddy look at mine post you'll find it informative
Circumcision should be outlawed as it provides no medical benefit, the child cannot consent, and it is irreversible.
Why not just let circumcised people be happy with themselves instead of calling us all mutilated?
I mean I'm not going to go up to cut dudes and be like "wow thats fucked up how your parents mutilated you" but I'm also not going to stand by and let people call it not genital mutilation when it's literally that.
For every guy who likes his dick, congrats. I'm an american woman. I have no sexual experience with uncut men, but my husband and I chose NOT to cut our son. He is now a teenager and he says his friends are about 50/50 between cut and uncut.
Pretty sure you should not discuss your son's friend's dicks with your son ever??? I dunno that is real fuckin weird
Why not just let circumcised people be happy with themselves instead of calling us all mutilated?
Some people never got a choice in the matter, it's basically mutilation.
got a source for that?
One's dick? I'm uncircumcised, and whenever I pop it out, touching it feels like I might die of sensory overload.
