You guys fucking disgust me, to call circumcision genital mutilation, thus making it equivocal to FGM, is so retarded, it's not even funny.

I didn't have mine cut when I was born. My mom just didn't see the point. I don't think my dad and brothers are cut either.. I considered it a few years ago at 18/19 and they told me that having it at an older age is SUCH a hassle and about 2 weeks recovery time. Not being able to even touch it. Have to shield it in the shower, can't have sex for about a month or 2 I think. I know I can't see this being a hindrance at all for a 4 year old. But, even at such an AWARE age, its still going to hurt a lot more and be way more of a hassle to take care of.

I don't care if you think circumcision is mutilation or not, what I find unacceptable is performing a completely useless operation on a child against their will. Same way I find piercing your kids ears against their will unacceptable. If there is no medical issue, no part of your body should be permanently cut off.

My opinion is that this is elective surgery, so if one parent says no and the other says yes, then the one who wants it done should have to show WHY it needs to be done. Just because one type of mutilation is worse doesn't mean that the other type isn't mutilation The foreskin has 20,000-70,000 nerve endings, removing those is functionally degrading as also demonstrated in cases of people who get adult circumcisions and have complaints about reduced stimulation and sensation
