That's sort of like saying that pinching someone's hand is just as bad as chopping it off

As far as I know male circumcision had the only few benefits of helping prevent filth and STDs. You should be bloody washing yourself properly. How come does it still happen anyway? Is it one of those "Religion dictates Law" bullshits? My brother and I got the cut when we were born, both of us have told our parents we would have rathered to be left alone. Only explanation was "Well your father got it, and your father's father got it." Which is a load of shit since sure, my great grandfather was a religious nut, and my grandfather worked on a farm where his family could only bathe once every two weeks. My father grew up in the suburbs all normal though, and so did I. Religious nut great grandfather was deceased before my Father was even born to begin with. Didn't need that noise. Sorry for the ramble, but it's all a bit unnecessary really.

If we lived in a society where it wasn't generally accepted and done with razor blades, we would probably be calling it "male genital mutilation" and not the friendlier "circumcision". I doubt the many societies who engage in FGM actually call it "Female genital mutilation". That doesn't diminish the harm it does.

People bringing up FGM in this thread are equally as retarded as the ones who bring up circumcision in the threads about FGM. Every thread about either devolves into this. They're separate issues in generally different regions of the world. The "which is worse" argument is completely irrelevant.

I don't get why people seem to think that by calling circumcision mutilation, we're somehow comparing it to FGM. You're the ones doing that, not us. Just because they're both mutilation does not make them equal in severity, but not being equal in severity also does not make one not mutilation. It is by definition mutilation, there's no way around that no matter how hard you try, and saying it's not mutilation because it's not as bad as FGM is ridiculously stupid. I'm sorry you can't accept that you have a mutilated dick, I'm sorry you force these negatives on the word, I'm sorry you feel like we're insulting you when we say that. But get over yourselves, we're talking about an unnecessary, forced procedure, on babies.

As far as I'm concerned circumcision is an unnecessary operation that shouldn't be carried out on individuals who can't even voice consent (or lack thereof) regarding it.
