Yes it does Johnnsen, holy shit.
No, it does depend on the person. You can't force respect for something into someone.
I find myself agreeing with Johnnsen.
Personally I really don't look up to Obama that much, and I really don't admire him. I'd fall asleep too.
Let's see.. Well, it doesn't say anything that the student was graduating, just that it was a choir member seated two seats behind Obama. But it doesn't matter, it's disrespectful to sleep during any speech. If I fell asleep during a speech while on camera, (especially the president's,) I know sure as hell I'd get my ass beat by my dad. On top of that, a very long and thorough lecture from just about everyone I run into.
I wouldn't because I'd be throwing anything I could get my hands on at him.
And you would be to busy getting your ass beat by the secret service to fall asleep.
I think I would. But it's more likely I'd just yell at him. I'd rather not get taken to Gitmo and waterboarded.
Wasn't it your buttbuddy Bush that opened Gitmo as a prison and approved waterboarding? [editline]09:06PM[/editline] That's like blaming Dönitz for the Holocaust.
Wasn't it your buttbuddy Bush that opened Gitmo as a prison and approved waterboarding? [editline]09:06PM[/editline] That's like blaming Dönitz for the Holocaust.
And there's something wrong with Guantanamo bay and waterboarding?

Wasn't it your buttbuddy Bush that opened Gitmo as a prison and approved waterboarding? [editline]09:06PM[/editline] That's like blaming Dönitz for the Holocaust.
And there's something wrong with Guantanamo bay and waterboarding?
It is incredibly wrong
Yes there is
I agree with the gitmo thing and half of the waterboarding thing, I don't see a problem with waterboarding people we know are terrorists with knowledge of something that could be a threat to America, otherwise keep it away from everyone else. [editline]09:31PM[/editline]
Reagan gave good speeches because they were written by his corporate overlords.
Just like every other president and prime minister ever.
Waterboarding is torture. Torture doesn't work in interrogations.
Waterboarding is torture. Torture doesn't work in interrogations.
That is extremely false. You think it's wrong to apply torture as an potently effective force for gaining vital information that could save many lives, while doing no physical or long lasting harm to the person? These people would do way worse without a second thought.
Waterboarding is torture. Torture doesn't work in interrogations.
It can work, but like the old saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. In my opinion it should be a last resort thing, not something you go straight to.
The choir kids had been in that auditorium for almost 8 hours that day already. I would have fallen asleep too.
Holy shit someone was tired call the fucking press, this is absolute gold.
To clog the bullshit spewing out of his mouth.
Same logic BP had. Do you work for them? [editline]09:48PM[/editline]
Reagan gave good speeches because they were written by his corporate overlords.
Who cares. He cleaned up the shit that was the Carter administration and basically caused the Soviet Union to collapse.
Wasn't it your buttbuddy Bush that opened Gitmo as a prison and approved waterboarding? [editline]09:06PM[/editline] That's like blaming Dönitz for the Holocaust.
I didn't like Bush either. I'd throw stuff at him too.
Who cares. He cleaned up the shit that was the Carter administration and basically caused the Soviet Union to collapse.
Nah. The USSR was imploding on it's own.
That is extremely false. You think it's wrong to apply torture as an potently effective force for gaining vital information that could save many lives, while doing no physical or long lasting harm to the person? These people would do way worse without a second thought.
As my history professor once said. "If you come at me with red hot poker, I'll tell you I'm the Queen of England just to get you away from me."
That is extremely false. You think it's wrong to apply torture as an potently effective force for gaining vital information that could save many lives, while doing no physical or long lasting harm to the person? These people would do way worse without a second thought.
Holy shit are you defending torture?
It's just a matter of respect. It doesn't matter if you like the guy or not, he's the president. And it should be an honor to have him at your graduation. Sure, you can fall asleep if you want to, but if you're sitting behind him and you KNOW you'll be on TV, at least try not to nod off. It's the fact that he's up there with him being recorded that makes this disrespectful. If these kids aren't grateful of the president coming to their graduation, he should have come to mine. I wouldn't doze off.
Back when I was a programmer, I had a nasty habit of falling asleep at red lights. If you are that tired, you have no say in when and where you sleep.
I fell asleep at a pep rally once. [editline]07:06PM[/editline] :irony:
That is extremely false. You think it's wrong to apply torture as an potently effective force for gaining vital information that could save many lives, while doing no physical or long lasting harm to the person? These people would do way worse without a second thought.
Hahahah what First, they'll say anything to stop the torture. I'd say my sister was an alien if I was threatened with, say, pulling my fingernails out. Second, there are long-lasting effects on those waterboarded at Gitmo. PTSD isn't uncommon. [editline]10:09PM[/editline]
Same logic BP had. Do you work for them? [editline]09:48PM[/editline] Who cares. He cleaned up the shit that was the Carter administration and basically caused the Soviet Union to collapse.
hahaha People don't like Carter because he told Americans what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to hear. He managed to get some pretty great shit done - see Camp David Accords, SALT II, Department of Education, Department of Energy. Also, the Soviet Union was, as someone else said, imploding upon itself. Agricultural issues, the ongoing occupation of Afghanistan, and Gorbachev's policies all contributed to the fall of the so-called "evil empire".
I would fall asleep because I get like 3-4 hours of sleep before school anyway.
That's awfully unhealthy. :ohdear: It could even end up damaging your education. Not meaning to sound like your mom or anything.
I didn't like Bush either. I'd throw stuff at him too.
Doesn't the media have more important topics to cover?
It would have been funnier if Obama had stopped the speech and offered to get him a cup of coffee. "This is the coffee that you can believe in. Yes it is, yes it is...yes, it is." Then again, :foxnews: would play the clip of him tapping the student on the shoulder and rant about how Obama will assault anyone who doesn't like his Nazi Socialist Propaganda.
This isn't really news. I'm pretty sure someone has fallen asleep during a presidential speech before.
This isn't really news. I'm pretty sure someone has fallen asleep during a presidential speech before.
I'm sure there will be a followup article by The Onion. "Man falls asleep on couch watching Super Bowl halftime show. Fans call for his execution."
So you are saying Reagan is a better president because you think that he speaks from his heart? What makes your opinion any more valid than someone else's opinion that states the opposite in favour of Obama?
hey you asked for his opinion, why are you still whining when you get it [editline]05:09PM[/editline] you specifically insisted that it must be his opinion, and not some generally known fact that could be found on the internet for example
