No. That would be Activision...
bethesda please.. you don't have to do this.. just put stalker down and walk away..
Fallout is an RPG.
STALKER is a heavily nuanced FPS/Survival horror with radiation. I thought we'd been over this.
All of stalker is really just you, a drunk, dreaming.

I found some moonlights almost immediately after starting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it was cool.
Well, shit.
Nice knowing you, STALKER.
Does nobody here know that Bethesda is a developer AND a publisher?
Holy fucking shit get your fucking info straight already.
Even if it was true, It would've only been better.
A Publisher ain't a fucking Developer.
And with the terms Sergei set up, ANY fucking publisher could do.
Whatever, its probably a fake v:v:v
A shame though. As said, with the terms Sergei rolled out, any publisher who agreed on that would do.
As far as Sergei wouldn't fuck up the choice of devs, it would be fine anyway.

But isn't reposting against the rules? Or is that only when it's deliberate?

Yet, a lot of people don't bother reading it and can't tell the difference.
I'm not sure if many people would agree with me (in fact I'm not sure if many people around here have played it) but I think Morrowind is/was the best Elder Scrolls game. Sure it did not have the prettiest graphics, but the storyline, the quests, the spells were spot on. It was imbalanced as hell, but where is my levitate spell in Oblivion/Skyrim, huh Bethesda?
I think Morrowind seemed much more epic as a whole, rather than forced to be epic through set pieces in Oblivion and Skyrim. I mean you feel the gradual rise to power and how your destiny unfolds, rather than being forced into a portal or sent against a dragon the first five minutes of the game. Don't get me wrong, both Oblivion and Skyrim were fine games, very well designed and everything, but for me they fell quite short of the potential they had.

Jackasses, please, do read.
So the point of this post being, with their trend of making games that have amazing set pieces with some plot connecting them with some thought given to quirky/interesting but limited sidequests, I don't think Bethesda would have been the best choice for STALKER. Glad to hear it is all a rumor.
Uh, guys.
Bethesda doesn't have to make the game. They can publish it.
Which basically might even be better than originally intended.
The question is if Bethesda hires the Stalker team, maybe they'll get Vostok to do it. Also, i wonder if they'll get the already done work on Stalker 2 the team has been working on.
They're publishing Dishonored and from what I've seen of the gameplay the mechanics are a lot like Skyrim and Fallout 3. So I don't think I'd trust Bethesda to even publish Stalker. Don't get me wrong they can make fun and decent games but they have sort of a "jack of all trades, master of none" thing going.

how the fuck does dishonored's mechanics look ANYTHING like skyrim or fallout 3
they're not even on the same engine

Sergei has set terms.
They wouldn't be able to intervene in any way.
Ok, everyone, listen. Stalker 2 may never be made, if Bethesda does not make it. So, this would be a good thing, especially if it's Bethesda. Why? Well, as you all know, Bethesda likes to make SDK's for there games. So people can make mods. You all say oh they suck and whatever, yeah, a large majority suck. But then again, there are some pretty good ones out there too. And if the game happens to be fallout styled making it unrealistic, you guys can all mod the game and make it what you wanted it to be. You can change the story, change locations, make guns realistic, there's so much you can do. Plus, Bethesda makes some pretty good games. Sure they're buggy, so is stalker. It's the mods that make it less buggy, and with Bethesda games there will be plenty of mods. And I think if they do buy the rights for a game, they will have by now read all the comments of unhappy people thinking they will make it like Fallout and make it unrealistic, that they will see thats not the right choice. If not, just mod it. If the graphics are bad, mod it. That's something Bethesdas great for, they love people modding there games. Fallout 3 has worse graphics than stalker, sure. But with mods, I can make it even better. And sure it will be for consoles, but Stalker 2 was going to be for consoles originally anyway. If you still don't like the fact that Bethesda could buy the rights and that you still think they could ruin it even though you could easily mod it, then pirate it. Who cares. They will still make tons of money off of it. Plus, this will spread Stalker around. I don't personally know many people who have even heard of stalker. I don't like that. This will make the stalker fan base even larger. But, as of now, "Bethesda have NOT bought the rights to the Stalker franchise" says Stalkers official facebook page. But that could change in the future. Plus, they didnt say they never bought the rights to a stalker game, just that they didn't buy the franchise. I have a feeling the game will be good. If not, i'll be making mods for it ( as I currently do with Fallout and Elder Scrolls games ) to make it into the game I want it to be.

"It doesn't matter how broken the game is, you can just fix it yourself."
are you serious? Games are supposed to come preassembled, goddamn.
Jesus christ no no no no no, no. Fuck off Bethesda goddamnit your glitchy abdominations you call "finished product" are your trademark, hands off STALKER before turning it into 3-4 voice actor crashfest.

I don't think so dude, there's no way they'll be using Gamebryo for this.

I'm just worried about another company "adopting" other series without hiring it's team, when was the last time this has worked well anyway?
I'm just worried about another company "adopting" other series without hiring it's team, when was the last time this has worked well anyway?
Never ?
I'm pretty sure they'll use another engine though. Gamebryo sucks if horribly coded.
Bethesda doesn't even use Gamebryo now, they use there Creation Engine. And think of it this way. You all want some other company to make it cause you think Bethesda wont make it right. If they dont make it right, oh well, you can mod it and fix it, although its your personal opinion if the game isnt right. However, with a lot of other game companies, no SDK is included with the game, resulting in few if any mods, so if they screw it up, we cant even mod it to fix it. And please, Stalkers got plenty of bugs and glitches as well, along with crashes.

Oh wow. You don't really know how the gaming industry works do you?
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
Okay I'm sorry I guess you're right.
So I got Minecraft the other day, but I really wanted it to be a post-apocalyptic shooter, so I modded it.
Then I got this:

Totally works.
Okay people, lets think about this for a moment.
STALKER, while being a unique gem of an FPS, was still a complete failure when you consider it's original goals. It's complicated AI systems never came together, open world was scrapped, vehicles were scrapped, half the monsters were scrapped, half the gameplay elements were scrapped, and if you could get the game to run for more than an hour without crashing you were fantastically lucky.
Bethesda couldn't ruin this any more than the original devs did, and having the property change hands is probably the only thing that could really revive the series. I'm not exactly a fan of Bethesda but I'd be cautiously optimistic if this were true - especially considering Bethesda's history of mod support. A realistic, gritty open-world survival shooter with Workshop support would be tits.
So I got Minecraft the other day, but I really wanted it to be a post-apocalyptic shooter, so I modded it.
that analogy doesn't work at all.

...did you actually play stalker?
Skyrim is a swiss watch compared to anything GSC has ever made.
and, uh... 3-4 voice actors? you DO realize that STALKER didn't even credit any voice actors, right? I think the English VOs were done by their two-man localization team.

'Your mileage may vary,' I guess. I still occasionally get crash-on-starts in CoP.
