All GameSpy powered multiplayer games shutting down

RIP.
Hello sunshine, my worst enemy.
What an interesting time for Crysis to begin crashing on launch every time I try to play. Probably unrelated but still.
stalker Call of pripyat multiplayer wont work no more :/
Plenty of those games are owned by big publishers, and I'm sure it would be simple enough for them to simple take part of GS's infastructure to keep them online. BF2 still sells plenty of copies and Halo 1 PC still has like 7000 players or something.
Even if the servers were linked directly to the shutdown of these sites, which I know they aren't. I don't think many of them would be down permanently. I figure EA might buy up GameSpy and merge it with 1Up and all them to develop a new brand. Let's face it. While Gamespy does provide a service, I never ever once wanted anything to do with gamespy. I never wanted anything to do with them.
oh noooooo
nooooooooooooo... Not hot pursuit 2 and soldier of fortune series
What's happening with Borderlands? Didn't you need a gamespy account for that?

i support this. several posts already explained that this might not have anything to do with the multiplayer services
and no fucking one read them
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Company of Heroes
Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts
Company of Heroes Tales of Valor
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War
Warhammer 40K: Dark Crusade
Warhammer 40K: Soulstorm
Warhammer 40K: Winter Assault
I'll be really annoyed if i can't play these anymore.
BF2 and BC2, wtf?
Those games still have plenty of players too.
SWAT 2
SWAT 3
SWAT 4
The servers for these, unfortunately, have been down for quite some time now. 4 was taken now in the last year and 3 has been down since 2009. Dunno about 2.
I'm glad this isn't true, I almost had a heart attack when I saw 2142 going down
Holy Shit.
That would've been a huge loss.
Everyone is focusing on "oh no Planet Half Life and Planet Elder Scrolls are going down". Either it is a coincidence that dozens of games that were working yesterday went down today or the Blog Post they published back in December of 2012 is not relevant information anymore.
The blog post is relevant because it shows IGN have no control over the game servers, they're managed/owned by a separate company. All IGN are taking down is the GameSpy website (Which is a news portal)
This entire thread is why we need the Bad Reading rating back.
Uhh I'm pretty sure the Battlefield games and the old Call of Duty games didn't use GameSpy
So just to be super clear.... that list, and the OP, are all bullshit?
What an interesting time for Crysis to begin crashing on launch every time I try to play. Probably unrelated but still.
probably related to crytek being a completely incompetent developer that has yet to produce a real game.

Worried for a sec
Snip
I never play those games anyway..
So Gayspy just killed off some of the most popular online games? Because IGN GOTTA HAVE MOMONEY?
READ THE THREAD
-Jesus fuck Op-
Why would you do that?
Even if it's fake, this kind of shit keeps putting me off from buying always-online games like the new simcity. I just don't want to suddenly stop being able to play my games.
-snip bad reading-
