it's nothing like total war the aim of the game is to create the most prestigious dynasty in the game, not to conquer the most land

Think total war but in real time and every battle is auto-decided; there isn't a battlefield portion. Ck2 is kinda unique in grand strategy through in the interactions of characters. I'd say ck2 is a mixture of grand strategy, rpg, and visual novel.
oh cool i dont like territory conquering in games that much anyway. ill give it a look if i can
Nothing else will make you think as much about incest or killing your immediate family members as this game.
How active is the multiplayer community?
Plenty of steam groups that do weekly sessions.
The game is great. Once managed to make my son the King of Norway, but the fat fuck managed to lose that position after roughly 1 month.
When I played this I went to war with my friend, who was practically in charge of Burgundy. He begged me to end the war, and I took his Son under my wing. During the 6 years he lived with me, he was periodically caught stealing food and misbehaving, at young boys are want to do. The options were generally the same, teach him piety and right from wrong, encourage his bad behaviour, or beat him. 20 years later when Burgundy was being run by a wrathful sadist, my friend concluded that you shouldn't fuck with England.
So uh... any good guides for figuring out how the hell to play this? I'm feeling pretty retarded right now.
I once assassinated an entire branch of my son's children to ensure that I inherit their land ASAP In fact I've got a screenshot as proof... http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/560975922848608309/491D67CA3CDB5153FCB326EF936EF39BA3C8D4FF/

Oh god, my review made it into a news article. I'm damn proud of that. Proof, check my account. I've had so many people add me because of it :v:
I downloaded the demo and played as the King of Poland and a bunch of fun shit happened where I set some laws so I could revoke titles and also all throughout the demo I increased taxes and such. This one moment (several months/years after taking care of several would-be throne usurpers from my realm) I lost a province to a nearby kingdom who declared war on it then he managed to drag the Holy Roman Empire (!) and Hungary into the whole thing so I just let it go because I was running low on money. Later on I managed to launch a war campaign back for the same province, then after sitting on it for a good amount of time the whole thing was summed up as 'inconclusive' and the war effort ended when I was occupating the entire thing, and the province was still the enemy's. I was pissed. :v: So I wanted to launch another war campaign to get it back but it said I couldn't because the duke or w/e wasn't "Independent" or whatever. (I didn't care at all, I just wanted my province back!) Then the game ended because it had like a fixed date to finish that I wasn't aware of. ¨V:v:V¨ Looks like a cool game, I'll try and get it soon enough to play a proper match.
I particularly appreciated.. "10/10 would expel Jews again"
I literally only just realised that when he's scrolling down the guide he has a tab open that says "About Suicide" Why Fitz, why
Such a shame that he hasn't made a video for over a year.
I literally only just realised that when he's scrolling down the guide he has a tab open that says "About Suicide" Why Fitz, why
he has another video where he kills himself after losing the golden joystick award to the yogscast
I have this game... and I don't even remember buying it.
Love this game. Once conquered 80% of Europe, took some time though. (And a lot of killing) Then decided to give it another go like half a year later, start a new campaign, skip a year, DEAD. Murdered by my own brother, game over.

This game also has great mod support. Is has Steam Workshop, but the more popular mods don't use it. If you want to view the mod subforum on the official forum, you need to make an account and put your CD key in http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?682-Crusader-Kings-II-User-Modifications
I would have been intrigued by this game, that is if I actually played strategy games like strategy games instead of using Stronghold as a mass bear attack king assassination simulator.
This game has turned me into a monster, I've massacred entire families for insulting me, I've had babies strangled in their cribs so that they would never be a threat to me in the future, I've castrated and blinded the peasant who rose against me in rebellion. Oh god, I need some help :suicide:
More than half of them are cosmetic DLCs (Music, Portrait Packs) that are insanely cheap. Then there are the major DLCs, such as The Republic, The Old Gods, Rajas of India and Sword of Islam (to name a few) that are seriously supportive to the main game.
And might I add, the music DLC is almost definitely worth it. While I haven't listened to any, the game has a fucking awesome soundtrack, and I'd expect nothing less than even more gold: And as far as I'm aware you can just go into the game files and straight up pull the music out for listening on your own time. I know you can do that for the vanilla soundtrack, unsure for DLC.

what a psycopath
And here I was thinking Crusader Kings was a shruggable game. Time to inbreed!
Too complicated for me. I'd love to get into it but it just seems like, on top of being complicated, you have little control on what happens
This game also has a ridiculously large modding community for it, which is always a plus IMO The Game of Thrones mod for this game is hands down the best mod for any game I've ever played. It feels like an entire different game, it sure as hell as enough content to make it its own game. With the recent cease and desist on Westeros Total War, the mod for CK2 is now the only GoT related game worth playing. That is until Telltales releases their GoT game, but I would still play the hell out of both of them. Other great mods include CK2+, which actually makes Muslims fun to play and a slew of other nice features, but that is sadly currently outdated. The HIP mod is worth it just for the new beautiful map, but I don't like the localized titles it dishes out. Lux Invicta I haven't played much, but its kind of like Kieserich if you like the alternate history/timeline stuff. Also there is a great Elder Scrolls mod that is comparable to the Game of thrones mod. There's a ton of misc mods out there too, like VIET.
Only fun i had was when i was harrassed by the alleged Robin Hood and his jolly gang in thighs. :v:
So, I bought this and played around with it a little; it seems pretty fuckin' cool. I was wondering, though, if there was a way to remove the 1453 endgame? Obviously that limit still allows for some pretty hefty games, but I generally dislike playing these sorts of games with a hard limit. Civ is the same.
Poor Biggus Dickus's heart gave out after a particularly intense session of lovemaking. And thus his empire fell.
