http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-05-16/toonami-revival-to-have-new-original-anime-programming >A Wednesday press release released by Adult Swim, the cable and satellite network that is paired with Cartoon Network, has revealed that the network is developing "new original anime programming" for the return of the Toonami programming block. Previous series featured on the block will also make their return. >new original anime programming confirmed for not just nostalgia shows. [editline]17th May 2012[/editline] Bad news it might just be from Midnight to 6am.
the guys at CN and AS are so fucking rad best bros
I'll be honest here, I don't know why everyone's creaming themselves over this news. Why do people want to watch weekly doses of old, censored anime reruns? I'm getting a feeling that too many people have their nostalgia goggles on and that the viewership for this will drop off pretty quickly after the initial buzz. That is, unless they start showing new anime as well. I hope this brings about some sort of push for western anime localization, because it really needs it right now. I'm interested in what they mean by "developing new original anime programming". While I'm personally happy at the idea of newer generations getting to see these good old shoes, I don't think I'll be watching this myself.
You're aware Toonami wasn't just anime, right? Here are two non-anime reasons why people watched it: 1) The TOM segments. Seriously, check this shit out 2) Beast wars. Fucking Beast wars.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-05-16/toonami-revival-to-have-new-original-anime-programming Saturdays from 12-6 a.m. 'New Original Anime Programming' Big O season 3?
toonami doesn't make it's own shows, it dubs / acquires dubs of anime. and since no big o season 3 was ever made in japan it won't ever be dubed and put on toonami
The best episode of Samurai Jack
What with DC Nation, there's the SLIGHTEST chance that they could show Batman TAS or Justice League. I'm happy that it's back, but the addition of those would only sweeten the deal.
Can't wait to hear Steve Blum before and after and during the shows again.
The short answer is... Money. Believe it or not, millions of people still watch TV regularly.
how does this somehow prevent them from uploading a youtube video? They can do both
how about more loiter squad instead

I hope they bring back Zoids: New Century Zero Oh, and more Deep Space Bass
Just the other day I was thinking, "Did we get enough people to bring Toonami back?". The next day I saw this was announced and I shit myself.
Maybe these will be revived if the viewers like it,
That's probably not a good idea, did you see what they did to Tom and Jerry?
Ok, Toonami's back, now to start my own campaign. #BringbackBrak
A fucking great birthday present
Ok, Toonami's back, now to start my own campaign. #BringbackBrak
Too late. [sp]Watch Cartoon Network on Fridays before Adult Swim.[/sp]
but 'New Original Anime Programming' implies that they will actually do something new
Maybe it's because I'm tired but I have no fucking idea what you mean. Could you use an actual sentence please.
I think the Funimation dub of Sgt. Frog could work right at the beginning of new Toonami (considering it's lighter fare, but still has some swearing/suggestive bits, think a slightly cleaner Simpsons).
Halalooah
Maybe it's because I'm tired but I have no fucking idea what you mean. Could you use an actual sentence please.
Original - "Newly created" or "Fresh, different" As in, they're going to be showing something other than a dub of an old anime. (The quote was from a press release from Adult Swim, mentioned in an ANN article that was linked here a few times.)
Fuck my life, I wish I had cable now.
Fuck my life, I wish I had cable now.
The 4/1 showing was streamed by at least 2 different people, I guarantee you this'll be streamed somewhere.
Returns on my 17th birthday. Awesome.
Well? What did you guys think?
It was awesome. I also like these honest game reviews that TOM is doing.
I turned every tv on in my house to cartoon network in the hope of giving them ratings. However I did watch streams with /v/ and /co/ and my real friends for commentary. Most of the streams got taken down because /a/ was mad that we weren't watching moe and started reporting the streams.
I can't wait for next week, Deadman's Wonderland and Cowboy Bebop are some of my new favorites.
