• Slender Man Source mod will let you scare the hell out of yourself with friends.

Man, I thought for a second that the first picture in the OP was a screenshot of the game. That would have been excellent. I'm a bit of a bitch when it comes to horror games, though, so having the chance to scare the hell out of myself with friends seems like a golden opportunity to me.
What about the one that a Facepuncher was making?
Co-op kills horror. How many times does someone have to fuck up a game with this concept before people realize it's a dumb idea.
I Disagree, hidden source was fantastic with friends.
Why do they need help to model slenderman? It's a stretched humanoid with no face, and it's not like rigging it would even be difficult.
Hell, they could even go Afraid of Monsters and rig it badly on purpose so all the tentacles are twitching all over the place unnaturally.
Hell, they could even go Afraid of Monsters and rig it badly on purpose so all the tentacles are twitching all over the place unnaturally.
I think that would add to the scariness.
I Disagree, hidden source was fantastic with friends.
But it's not scary.
But it's not scary.
To me it is.
Co-op kills horror. It's a hell of a lot scarier when you think someone's watching your back and you suddenly realize they aren't. Shit just make both players invisible to one another every now and again and watch them panic while they try to find each other.
What's going to piss me off is, if they release this sourcemod, and we release SCP: Source, and then pewdiepie and co. butcher it for youtube views. [editline]oh christ[/editline] oh christ the moddb hopes = drained, you don't make a mod by getting people outside of your team to make assets jesus fuck
That's an old w.i.p "only for testing purposes"
Golly, that looks a lot better. Looks a lot like the forest around my grandmother's house during autumn.

And they haven't even said if they'll use any of them. They just want them sent in.
Wait there's an SCP game? Holy shit awesome (at both that and this)
I never found a man in a suit with a white mask scary. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I think that a fear of slenderman is more of an excuse to say you're afraid of the dark.
Co-op kills horror. How many times does someone have to fuck up a game with this concept before people realize it's a dumb idea.
I found Cry of Fear actually did this really well, when it was just two of us.

Its the fact that something is there when you expect it not to and it makes a bunch of sound and visuals. Thats what is scary about it. Not some dude in a suit with no face. Its what he is accompanied with.
no u Slender Man has yet to be properly represented on film and in a game. Everyone just rips off Marble Hornets version dubbed The Operator
Considering they pretty much made Slenderman...why wouldn't they follow their ideas?
I never found a man in a suit with a white mask scary. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I think that a fear of slenderman is more of an excuse to say you're afraid of the dark.
That's simplifying things way too much. Have you read the original Something Awful content? Darkness plays into it, but also something you don't understand stalking you and driving you to insanity (or eviscerating you). Since Slender Man is old news now and tons of people have bastardized the guy making him silly you may not be creeped out compared to before the internet raped it.
That's not scary, that's startling. Again, being scared by a tempo and a dark area is a fear of the dark and isolation.
But it isnt just fear of the dark. Its the ambient sounds that play accompanying the jump scare that make it terrifying. If I had to sleep in a pitch black room and I could hear footsteps and screams and other scary things then I am afraid of the sounds and what is creating them. I wouldn't be able to do it. The darkness is not the main cause. It just amplifies it. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] And jump scares are 10X more powerful when there is tension built up over time.
What's the big deal over this game? If I was 12 years old then it might be scary but goddamn the graphics are horrendous. The model for slenderman look worse than something I could do and I know very little about modeling in general. Hell even the environment looks pretty bland. I just don't get it.
Co-op kills horror. How many times does someone have to fuck up a game with this concept before people realize it's a dumb idea.
This. I want to nail this post on the forehead of fucking everyone who crossed any kind of horror game genres with co-op play. Seriously, to me (and I don't care if you find this stupid), coop in horror games is the worst bullshit move ever pulled in the "inovation basket".
If they do the co-op well it could be good. Imagine you and a friend playing online, searching the same area, tense because you could see slenderman round every corner. You try and describe where you are over mic to each other, to meet up and discuss a plan. You bump into each other and shit yourselvs. or at least thats what I hope the online is like
I just don't get it.
Probably because you didn't read the thread at all.
I found Cry of Fear actually did this really well, when it was just two of us.
I can see Cry of Fear being scary if two guys really got into the spirit of the characters and setting. Me and my cousin, on the other hand, found out that the giants had trouble keeping track of two characters at once and took turns hitting them in the ass with a stick until they died.
Golly, that looks a lot better. Looks a lot like the forest around my grandmother's house during autumn.
I can't really see anything much in the picture.
I don't think Slendy is scary tbh.
They're probably outsourcing the slenderman model to get people's attention, maybe just because nobody can figure out something that looks creepy enough to make the mod worth it
What's going to piss me off is, if they release this sourcemod, and we release SCP: Source, and then pewdiepie and co. butcher it for youtube views.
I've seen a lot of people on here and /v/ dislike pewdiepie. Why? Could someone simply explain to me why and how he "butcher" games? I know many people on /v/ seems to dislike everything, but still. Also more on topic, it looks like its not going to be something good. The first submissions in the "challange" he made could most likely be really bad, and he putting up with the risk that something bad which could ruin the game is in the game, is to me, not a very good sign.
