Sup guys. I'm the environmental artist (the dude who made that screenshot you guys are looking at). I have to say I'm excited with how this is going to turn out. There's reasons why it's so dark that play into the game's concepts.
We're making good progress on the two maps so far. We've gotten a modeller, programmer, sound artist, decal artist, and two environmental artists along with many requests to be voice actors.
I really can't wait until you guys get to checkup on our next week's news.
Something I don't get, isn't slenderman supposed to be going after kids?
You know, first appearing in their dreams, making them obsessed with them, making adults think they're crazy. Then when the child disappears and the parents look back at photos of the kid they discover their kid weren't crazy?
Isn't slenderman just a metaphor for a child molester, a parents worst nightmare?

People are underestimating this. I believe this is going to turn out great, can't wait!

Awesome, thanks for the comment. We're really hoping to provide a scary experience for everyone. We do recommend that everyone who hasn't yet, please check out the original Slender game by Mark J. Hadley.
It's probably the best horror game I've played since Amnesia.

I unfortunately can't find the Afraid of Monsters thing I said, but try the mod.
People saying that coop ruins horror games haven't played Ghouls World.
[editline]27th July 2012[/editline]
Besides no one is forcing you to play coop, just play single player.
Coop with weapons ruins horror completly (see dead space 2).
But if its co-op with no weapons like the GM_Ghosthunt maps its rather frightening and 100 times better because you AND your friends are freaking out at everything.
Your grandmum lives in a creepy ass forest then
You have no idea.
I always had horrible, horrible nightmares every single goddamn time I had a sleepover there.
Some were awful enought for me to remember to this day like I just had them. From her house to the stables was about 50 meters walking, and we went to throw a bale or half to the horses before night. Those walks to the stable and back in the almost complete darkness felt like forever.

All production went in to creating that tree model
I've seen a lot of people on here and /v/ dislike pewdiepie. Why? Could someone simply explain to me why and how he "butcher" games?
I know many people on /v/ seems to dislike everything, but still.
Also more on topic, it looks like its not going to be something good. The first submissions in the "challange" he made could most likely be really bad, and he putting up with the risk that something bad which could ruin the game is in the game, is to me, not a very good sign.
People dislike pewdiepie because he over-exaggerates how "scared" he is during his horror game videos.
He also generally just whores out to the latest LP trends like Happy Wheels or Amnesia.
Does the game support the Ability of a player being the Slenderman?
Does the game support the Ability of a player being the Slenderman?
we need this, like zombie master or the hidden
Does the game support the Ability of a player being the Slenderman?
Thats the first thing i thought when i saw the thread title
i always wanted a true horror game where you get the scare the piss out of your friends yourself
Our base gamemode when we go open beta will be the 12 doll hunt. The reason for this is we'd like a full fledged game mode with no bugs or anything on release. We are however planning to add more than one just gamemode with several ideas already popping up.
I can't guarantee it will happen because of how Slenderman is programmed, but it definitely could be a possibility regardless.

I saw my own face reflected and I actually got scared for a second until I realized it.
It's just a single model, damn. And they haven't even said if they'll use any of them. They just want them sent in.
They should make it themselves, why else would they want a ton of slender man models sent in?
Maybe for inspiration or they can take a good one and give it their own twist
Maybe for inspiration or they can take a good one and give it their own twist
it better be ragdolled
Does the game support the Ability of a player being the Slenderman?
holy shit i want this
I think they should make their own concepts and do it like everyone else, it seems a little lazy to rip it from other people's models, but if they're willing I suppose it's alright.
Also, I don't get why people say horror games with weapons and jump scares aren't as scary as the opposite.
Sure, jump scares can be pretty cliche and used up, but they are usually done right, and goddamnit you probably saw someone getting murdered right in front of you if none makes you literally jump.
You have weapons, but I don't find it as easy as you make it seem. Imagine something pops out at you and grabs and molests you and wobbles your shit. That + maybe the scare it put on you probably wont make your aim effective enough to shoot straight, and that is if it even would work.
Games like Amnesia are scary, but please, don't exaggerate. You hear the monster growl, and pouff! There you go. Now you know he's after you. The environment although does help set the mood, but it doesn't goes much further after a certain point. It ends being a game of "hiding from the old man while you steal his shit inside his house". After hiding and staying still for a while, he disappears.
Don't get me wrong, its a good game. But don't diss on other horror games that don't have Amnesia's style.

I will applaud you if you manage to ever find something bullets would actually affect in this game...excluding your teammates.
They should make it themselves, why else would they want a ton of slender man models sent in?
If I recall correctly the Slender Man is usually implied to not really have a "solid" form, or at least has one which most definitely isn't humanoid and it's trying to mimic us akin to how hunters sometimes use fake animal props/costumes, so it'd make a bit of sense if they just took all of 'em and randomized which model you got each time it's called to spawn.
Considering they pretty much made Slenderman...why wouldn't they follow their ideas?
I'm pretty sure slenderman was created from a SA photoshop contest
[editline]27th July 2012[/editline]
SA as in, Something Awful
I will applaud you if you manage to ever find something bullets would actually affect in this game...excluding your teammates.
That would actually be a pretty entertaining game. You get scared by something and end up blindly firing in to your friend who goes running away to avoid the flurry of bullets.
Oh, hell yes. I just spent all last night playing Slender and Cry of Fear drunk. Now I can do this again.

I recently started watching a few of his videos. In his like 100th Slender vid where he's already extremely used to the game he's playing it with his girlfriend and all he sees is just Slendy standing in the distance there isn't even any jump scare sound effects and he went into beserk screaming mode. At that point all I could conclude is that he's faking. The model isn't even scary.

Why? It's a free mod not a game that costs where they'd be total cunts for charging for work they didn't do.
I thought that too...now I'm pretty much completely disappointed, no real point to this game considering the effects of coop on horror atmospheres.
Cool just shit on the mod when you well know the devs are in the thread and working on it for nothing in return. This mod is worth it just for being a Slender Man game with coop.

I like this idea, actually.
The only problem is that he still generally has the same shape when you see him. But it's an intriguing idea all the same.
