Never bring a knife to a gun fight, kids.
Hey cool, an officer who did not abuse his powers and actually did his job correctly! I am stunned. It sucks that because of how the media works we never hear much about good cops.
It sucks that because of how the media works we never hear much about good cops.
wrong
A kid who went to my school ran at a police officer with two knives and was summarily shot seven times. Being that he was 14 there was a bigger controversy about it.
took the right action going at a cop with a knife is never a good idea
Surprised nobody's called the cop a fascist pig yet
I almost wonder if he had hoped to get killed.
that's generally what happens when you're shot
No sometimes, you stagger, lurch forward, stagger again, fall on your knees, fall down completely, briefly struggle up while futilly wielding knife, and than collapse.
Charging at an armed officer with a knife is not the smartest thing to do.
Charging at an armed officer with a knife is not the smartest thing to do.
attempted suicide by cop. he WANTED to be shot, so yes in that sense it was a pretty smart thing to do why do you guys keep thinking that he intended to win the fight?
Admit it, you thought of this.
Surprised nobody's called the cop a fascist pig yet
Why would anyone? It's completely reasonable as he gave several warnings and did it as an act of self defense. If it were a suspected unarmed criminal though...
Surprised nobody's called the cop a fascist pig yet
FP is only against police brutality, not justified self defense and/or police protocol.
attempted suicide by cop. he WANTED to be shot, so yes in that sense it was a pretty smart thing to do why do you guys keep thinking that he intended to win the fight?
I'm just wondering how you know it was suicide by cop when it never states it in the article.
FP is only against police brutality, not justified self defense and/or police protocol.
FP is against anything related to banning drugs. (and general asshole moves) [editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
I'm just wondering how you know it was suicide by cop when it never states it in the article.
Because it wasnt. The suspect was not suicidal, just PO'd.
Shit job by police, get tazers. Edit: Take example from some of these stories from around Finland, a junkie charged a cop with knife in each hand and he just took out his tazer and fried him.
They have tasers you ass.
The officer had to shoot or had the disadvantage of being shanked, fatally if so.
The officer had to shoot or had the disadvantage of being shanked, fatally if so.
Yes. (Although in WI, I'll explain it from a MN legal standpoint) From MN statute 609.066
Subd. 2.Use of deadly force. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 609.06 or 609.065, the use of deadly force by a peace officer in the line of duty is justified only when necessary: (1) to protect the peace officer or another from apparent death or great bodily harm; (2) to effect the arrest or capture, or prevent the escape, of a person whom the peace officer knows or has reasonable grounds to believe has committed or attempted to commit a felony involving the use or threatened use of deadly force; or (3) to effect the arrest or capture, or prevent the escape, of a person whom the officer knows or has reasonable grounds to believe has committed or attempted to commit a felony if the officer reasonably believes that the person will cause death or great bodily harm if the person's apprehension is delayed.
Thing i'm wondering is when you want to stab someone you usually go for the chest/stomach, and seeing as the cop was likely wearing a bulletproof vest the kid stabbing him in the chest woudn't have done shit to the cop.

(assuming the officer is wearing his vest)
The kid deserved it.
They have tasers you ass.
Tazers are hard to use, one prong fires directly forward and another one shoots at a downward angle. They don't both come out at the same direction. And for tazers to work, both prongs have to hit the target. The farther away a target is, the more likely you are going to miss. The prongs spread fast and far in a small amount of distance, you have to be right on a target to hit them with 100% accuracy and certainty. Tazers also have one shot. And if the person charging you with a knife is on drugs, chances are they can still attack you and kill you even if you got both prongs in and are frying their ass. On the other hands, guns shoot straight and have less exceptions to them. Cop's training of "shooting until threat is eliminated" will make sure any threat will stop, even if they are on drugs. Sorry but it's not a perfect world. Can't use tazers, mace, and batons for everything.
That punk is lucky he didn't get killed. Seriously, when is it ever a good idea to charge a cop straight on with a knife?

I was trying to imply that the officer had no other choice but to shoot. I like this statement though.
DROP THE KNIFE YOU DROP IT ZING
Stupid fuck is lucky they had the brains to use a tazer.
The Officer to the right in the video had a Taser and he was told to use it. But a taser isn't like a gun, you have to be pretty close because it just fires two hooks/prongs on a wire into somebody and he was getting closer whilst being careful that he didn't see him or attack him instead.
Watch the video while listening to the platoon main theme.

It's not like it doesn't instantly stop you.
