http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/8/usc_sup_01_8.html Federal Immigration Law. Read it, then read the Arizona law, no difference.
I cannot find any comparable sections in the US Federal Law and the Arizona law. Indeed, the US law is so long it'll take a while to make an exhaustive search. Arizona bill for reference: http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/sb1070s.pdf
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/8/usc_sup_01_8.html Federal Immigration Law. Read it, then read the Arizona law, no difference.
lol I doubt you've read either.
except this bill isn't upholding federal law The Arizona law goes well beyond federal law because it mandates that all local police and sheriffs demand papers from people they stop and believe may be in the country without authorization. Nowhere is such requirement in federal law.
You called me out for saying that the bill was a step in the right direction, I was saying that we should deal with the illegal immigration problem.
I can't say I support the bill, but it is a step in the right direction, we need to start cracking down harder on those who enter the country illegally.
Similarities yes, the exact same, no.
You called me out for saying that the bill was a step in the right direction, I was saying that we should deal with the illegal immigration problem.
sorry, but violating civil liberties, etc. isn't the right direction.
What, running out of material? Resorting to posting the same thing over and over? Stop posting stuff from the ACLU, they are about as knowledgeable of the current law status as you are. Oh yeah, posting actual resources makes your argument more legitimate.
I doubt you read it either.
I have, I don't go around making unknowledgeable claims.
What, running out of material? Resorting to posting the same thing over and over? Otherwise, you aren't posting any practical resources to reference.
sorry, but violating civil liberties, etc. isn't the right direction.

I can't say I support the bill, but it is a step in the right direction, we need to start cracking down harder on those who enter the country illegally.
I don't believe treading on civil liberties of American citizens is a step in the right direction, I believe that lawmakers taking a firm stance to curbing it is a step in the right direction.

[editline]01:16AM[/editline]
I don't believe treading on civil liberties of American citizens is a step in the right direction
then you shouldn't support this bill or say it's a step in the right direction
lol are you really saying the ACLU doesn't know their shit? they've been involved in around 100 court cases and have been around since 1920. and post all the similarities that are in the federal immigration law and the arizona immigration law. [editline]01:16AM[/editline] then you shouldn't support this bill or say it's a step in the right direction
I'll clarify myself since you seem incapable of reading. I never said that I supported the bill, I support the idea that we should try and deal with illegal immigration.

sorry, but violating civil liberties, etc. isn't the right direction.

Alright it was a poorly phrased sentence, can we move onnnnn
I have, I don't go around making unknowledgeable claims.
post all the similarities that are in the federal immigration law and the arizona immigration law then.
I'll clarify myself since you seem incapable of reading. I never said that I supported the bill, I support the idea that we should try and deal with illegal immigration.
That was much more clear. :golfclap:
I'll clarify myself since you seem incapable of reading. I never said that I supported the bill, I support the idea that we should try and deal with illegal immigration.
or you're incapable of saying what you "mean" and then you have to backpedal also you said that this bill is the same as federal law which it's not
While there are too many similarities to actually post, http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/Immigration contains a synopsis of current Federal Immigration Laws. Click on everything that is blue. EDIT: A better one: http://www.law.cornell.edu/usc-cgi/get_external.cgi?type=pubL&target=104-208
or you're incapable of saying what you "mean" and then you have to backpedal also you said that this bill is the same as federal law which it's not
The only time I reference the Arizona bill was in my original post, the rest was us arguing about dealing with illegal immigration.
While there are too many similarities to actually post
lol
The actual law, in PDF format http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=104_cong_public_laws&docid=f:publ208.104.pdf
The actual law, in PDF format http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=104_cong_public_laws&docid=f:publ208.104.pdf
so you read all 750 pages?
so you read all 750 pages?
Yeah, for a Law Class assignment.

EDIT: A better one: http://www.law.cornell.edu/usc-cgi/get_external.cgi?type=pubL&target=104-208
Nothing in that first link seems even slightly related to the Arizona law. The text in the second link is far too long to read at the moment.
sorry, but violating civil liberties, etc. isn't the right direction.
Civil liberties shouldn't be granted to those who don't legally have it. America is the land of opportunity, not opportunists. We should be protecting the rights (and jobs) of LEGAL immigrants.
Civil liberties shouldn't be granted to those who don't legally have it. America is the land of opportunity, not opportunists.
they still have rights even if they aren't legal citizens. American was founded on immigrants you dolt
What, running out of material? Resorting to posting the same thing over and over? Stop posting stuff from the ACLU, they are about as knowledgeable of the current law status as you are. Oh yeah, posting actual resources makes your argument more legitimate.
Instead of mocking him for repeating himself why don't you try and tell him why he (and the ACLU) are wrong. Unless I missed you refuting that post earlier on, in which case I apologize. [editline]10:31PM[/editline]
Civil liberties shouldn't be granted to those who don't legally have it. America is the land of opportunity, not opportunists.
Yeah, for a Law Class assignment.
okay, so post some similarities then if you've read both bills.
they still have rights even if they aren't legal citizens. American was founded on immigrants you dolt
Times change. This ain't the 17th century anymore. They have rights... to cross this border LEGALLY. I don't see why non-citizens should be subject to the same privileges and rights as citizens. Hell, you see illegal immigrants standing in line for welfare during the winter. Money that MY (and maybe your) hard-earned paychecks are paying for. I don't know about you, but I find it a bit cheap that a lot of people bust their ass to get into this country legally (Arturo Sandoval comes to mind)... only to have these illegals be treated the same way without putting in the same amount of effort and time. No pain, no gain... and don't say it's hard to cross the border, 'cause there's a video on YouTube that shows just how easy it is to hop the fence. -------------
Inalienable rights are inalienable.
I wasn't aware "being in America" was an inalienable right.
Hell, you see illegal immigrants standing in line for welfare during the winter. Money that MY (and maybe your) hard-earned paychecks are paying for. If all current illegal immigrants arrived here legally, we'd have less money to go around.
I don't remember where I read the article, and haven't the time to find it again, but legal immigrants cost significantly more than illegal immigrants, due to illegals paying more in taxes, and receiving fewer benefits. The ones who boast how easy it is to jump the fence (and jump it again if they get deported).
