2) Women had a MUCH bigger difference, yet it's not the focus. 6.2% of women said that they were either gay or bisexual, but 17.4(!) of women said they had sex with another woman. Basically an entire fifth of the women under the age of 34 had a sexual encounter with another woman.
Yeah, I'm told this all the time by girls I get to know, same sex stuff between women is super common, in guys it's a big no-no still.
I mean makes sense to me. I experimented with dudes a bit this year just to try it out. Found out I'm pretty straight, couldn't get into anything past making out.
Yeah, despite having some male-on-male encounters, I'd put myself in the straight category (I'd go with 1 on the Kinsey scale if possible) too if asked what I considered myself.
After re-reading the entire article I decided to look at the specific questions they asked people in the report. They quite literally asked people 'has another man put his penis inside your anus?' etc oh my. That's quite literal. Like, the 3% of people that they surveyed that consciously said they were straight admitted to either putting a dick in their mouth, anus, or their dick in some other man's mouth or anus. Isn't that really against the thing they just said a few minutes before they asked that question? :v:
It might be attributed to people who had same sex attraction at an earlier point in their life, but lost it over time. There have been quite a few studies that show huge changes in sexual orientation during the life of a young adult, with homosexual and bisexual people being over 20 times less stable in their sexuality than heterosexual people. Here's a quote from the largest study every done on the topic commissioned by the US senate: "Support for the instability of sexual orientation is far more prevalent - in both adult and adolescent populations. Among the 14% of Dutch adult males who reported ever having physical attraction to other males, about half noted that these feelings disappeared later in life (Sandfort, 1997). Comparing sexual attraction in a New Zealand birth cohort at two time periods, first when participants were 21- year olds and then later as 26 - year olds, Dickson et al. (2003) found that... one third of male 21-year olds with occasional same-sex attraction only had opposite-sex attraction as 26-year olds." (http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-006-9088-5#/page-1) He also speaks about a percentage of heterosexual people that experienced same-sex attraction later in life, but that they were very likely to keep their heterosexual attraction as well.
How else do you think I got Gold? I certainly don't meet the 2,000 post requirement. Sometimes you just gotta close your eyes and SUCK.
Or is this a very dark look into gay rape since the report doesn't mention the word 'consensual' or 'consent' or 'rape' even once in it. I don't think the surveyors specified if the sex had to be consensual at all.
That's a good point.. but I guess we can assume it was consensual? And why couldn't you ask these kinda deep-personal questions in a study tho? Why not? Makes for truly good studies. Anyway, it didn't come off as that surprising to me personally, cuz it's not like gay (or straight) people are PHYSICALLY UNABLE to have sex with the opposite (or the same) sex? Another word they didn't mention was attraction I think. Only sex. "I have had a single intimate gay experience in my otherwise seemingly heterosexual life." "Wow okay interesting results! Science yeah!"

Are you gay for penetrating a man's butthole, or are you gay because you get sexualy aroused by men? What if I'm not attracted to him but still let him fuck me in the ass, would I still be gay? The questions of life.
Sexual encounters sounds like some pokemon stuff, walk in that tall grass and boom!
Sexual encounters sounds like some pokemon stuff, walk in that tall grass and boom!
In real life that's even more illegal than raising animals for combat though.
To me, being gay means having romantic interests in men
To me, being gay means having romantic interests in men
It has been pondered if there is two classes of attraction actually; whether or not the following exist I have no idea. These two classes might be labeled as sexual attraction and romantic attraction. For example, I can find other men sexually attractive and want to participate in sexual acts with them but not want to have any long-term romantic relationship with them. The former seems to be about immediate pleasure while the latter seems to be more long-term with regards to "commitment".
if you're having sex with other men, you tend not to be straight
To me, being gay means having romantic interests in men
I think someone who has consistent same-sex attraction (sexual or otherwise) is 'gay'.
It has been pondered if there is two classes of attraction actually; whether or not the following exist I have no idea.
I'd certainly argue for it, I know plenty of people who want purely romantic relationships (A few are asexual), whereas I'm not into romantics or long term relationships.
It's not gay if you're on a Japanese gameshow.
Look bro if the balls don't touch or if they do and you say no homo within 10 seconds, it's not gay.
Sexual encounters sounds like some pokemon stuff, walk in that tall grass and boom!
More like "Sexual Encounters of the 'No Homo' Kind"
I mean, I can get down with some traps and/or shemales and I can enjoy having things inserted into my ass. Hell, a dick would feel better than a dildo but I don't walk around on the street being sexually or romantically interested in guys that I see. I've had my fair share of encounters with guys, but I don't seek out those encounters because I'm not into men. I've also not ever been romantically attracted to guys either sooooo.. Found out I'm pretty straight, couldn't get into anything past making out.
And that is where I'd draw the line. I've never made out with a guy and I have zero desire to. Sexuality is weird
Sexuality is stressful, for me. Especially because I cannot just go with the flow - I have to have a plan and a structure. Going from Mr hetero (and not at all worried about my sexuality) to pretty damn homo has been interesting, but I stress about not being actually gay despite never having feelings for women like what I feel now for men. Sexuality is fucking weird. I just try not to think too hard about it, and if someone tells me about their sexuality I don't question it and just let them deal with their own stuff
