I love MGS, but this can't be good.
I only see this not being a clusterfuck if they made as many movies as there are games, or at least Solid "1", 2 and 3, and maybe have them by the order by which they were released, and it would probably still be a clusterfuck.
And to be honest, I see the story being completely gutted and changed.
I don't like this one bit. I'm too much of a fan to not want it to be perfect, which will probably deem the movie a failure in my eyes at the slightest mistake.
And the fact that they don't really have an actor for Snake (Hayter only has the voice) makes it worse. Kurt Russel would be near perfect in his younger days.
If it does happen they'll take away the whole "deconstruction of an action movie" bit.

Because you know very well
video game movies.
I was almost bored to death by the metal gear solid 4 cut scenes, I cant make it through a whole movie.

hell I didnt even finish mgs 4
Hayter actually doesn't want to do more Metal Gear and threatened to leave multiple times. It has ruined his voice. In MGS-1 he was very very gravely. Then less for MGS2 and his part was also cut down to help. In MGS3 the growl is nearly non existent. For MGS4 Hayter had to do shots of Whiskey to be able to do the voice because he can't do it anymore due to it wrecking his throat.
So I doubt he'd still be up for it now. Plus you can't make a movie MGS and use the same cast anyway, there would be no different.
I think Jackman would do the job well. Or Bale. Either one.
But this fantasy Kojima and co have about Nolan directing is totally unlikely.
as much as i love bale he doesn't look at all like snake
and hed prob just do batman voice which isnt nearly the same as snakes
I don't really want to see Bale as snake, but Bale does work very well in a unique respect:
He could play both solid and liquid snake, as they are meant to be mostly identical twins, and bale can easily switch accents. However I'm not sure if he can do the affluent British accent of Liquid.
But ideally I'd like to see an unknown actor who resembles Kurt Russell with more defined features.
The problem with video game movies of the past is they've tried to establish themselves as original properties. They've taken aspects and characters from the game but mostly done their own route without capturing the character or themes of the games story and the emotions you felt as you played.
By working very closely with the game devs you could create a fantastic movie. Ari already got the ME writers to write the movie didn't he? I think he understands how to create an adaptation. Iron Man was so painfully spot on, his animated Marvel series are still considered the most loyal adaptations by fans. He also did really well with the Norton Hulk and both first Spiderman movies. His casting ideas are usually 100% spot on.
I mean the man that cast Downey Jr as Stark can probably cast Snake just as well.
I've wanted this for ages, but if they don't pull it off perfectly I don't think I could ever watch it
still waiting on that bioshock movie

If he played Liquid to perfection, he would be my favourite actor of all time.
Liquid was such a badass.
Eddie Murphy as Solid Snake
Eddie Murphy as Naomi
of all the games that don't need movies

Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite video game series of all time but it's so cinematic already and so much cutscene per minute of gameplay that a movie is unnecessary.
alongside eddie murphy as raiden, eddie murphy as liquid snake, and eddie murphy as revolver ocelot.
and shia lebouf as big boss
It would take about ten films to cover the series properly.
Kojima said he wouldn't want to go forward with a movie unless it were done right. Cautious optimism.
A lot of people say this and they never follow through with it. Max Brooks said he would never let a World War Z movie happen unless it was to his standards and yet look what they're doing to that.

Wouldn't be hard to pen up a contained story. Heck something set during the MSX games would suffice.
Christopher Walken as Snake please.
yes but only if he does the thing where he repeats shit that was just said to him
I'd love to hear walken say "a...surveillance camera?" or "fox....die?"

that's what I'm hoping for, for sure
"metal GEARrr...!?"
Now this is a movie i would like to see.
Uwe Boll or bust
Shia la beouf as

What? This is the first I've heard of this. It's well known that for Twin Snakes Hayter offered up half his paycheck to bring all of the original cast back so that kinda contradicts what you're saying.
Michael Cera as Liquid
Man MGS-1 is still in my top favorite games, I played it over and over again when i was about 8-10 fuck meryl, sniper wolf was amazing. Anyone know if it's sold anywhere for PC? The original, not the graphic/dialog upgraded one.
Why do I not want this...
Because MGS is already a movie.
wont work, honestly.
I can only see LA Noire working as a movie, and they have their entire cast / all the voices needed and all of those look exactly like in game. They are totally set cast wise, plot wise? R* makes fucking insanely good plots.

Oh wow the irony is palpable, there wasn't a single original idea in that game as much as I enjoyed it
