Just one in eight women consider themselves attractive, poll finds

Fuck advertising.
Meh the girl I like no matter how many times I said she was pretty she never believed me so I just stopped
But now all I do now is say how great and awesome she is and doesn't get angry or negative
What's even worse is they're now starting to turn men into objects. Neither gender should be considered an object.
We're ACTUALLY MAKING IT WORSE.
I've got a friend who frequently tells me she's fat, and I frequently tell her to shut the fuck up - She's actually a pretty gal.
Reminds me of this time I told a girl that she was way prettier than a model that she considered pretty.
In reply she told me to get my head checked.

Welcome to dealing with a woman. Your keyboard prepared you for nothing
Low Self Esteem women are easy Prey.
There also might be a hint of modesty too.
They stay outta the kitchen
they make us feel bad
And they say they are ugly but they whore themselves......
Ironically it's always the ugliest ones/slutiests that truly believe they're atractive.

That's a lie. They are only doing this for attention.
look
the idea of a "perfect female body" just doesn't exist.
"Be skinny, but make sure you're fat in the butt and boobs, because otherwise you're unwomanly!"
"even if you have boobs and a butt, but aren't teeny tiny in the thighs, arms, and waist, you're too fat, and therefore unwomanly!"
If you live your life dictated by what the media (and suckers who buy into that media image) tell you, you'll always be "too" something, "not __ enough," and never good enough. The female ideal, in our culture, is impossible. It is photoshopped, made-up, unobtainable, skinny but fat in all the right places, corseted, backlit, dyed, plastic, bleached, and waxed past the point of any "real" womanhood. No one can ever meet the ideal: even the models who pose for it are airbrushed and mutilated under a cursor in photoshop, or are put under the knife to be made "more like" their own photoshopped images.
It's absurd, unhealthy, and damaging
There also might be a hint of modesty too.
Modesty is saying "Oh come on, I'm not THAT pretty!" with a cheeky smile or something similar.
A self-esteem problem is more "Ugh, I'm not pretty at all :(" and actually meaning it.
That's why it's always a good idea to regularly remind your girl she's hot as fuck.

I agree, but I'm wondering why I'm being quoted with the other folks up there

"pitching in for compliments to find"... you don't see what's wrong with this? you don't think it's kinda messed up to have to resort to pre-made compliments you found on the internet or something like that?
it's the epitome of "females, beep boop"
push this hypothesis very far: it would only make it worse, you wouldn't know if someone's actually being genuine with their complimenents or if they're just trying to manipulate you
it's almost like you're trying to figure a "password" or "cheat code" for half the goddamn planet that's a compliment... it's messed up, man
It's not like they are able to choose to live by what is dictated to be beautiful and attractive, so I think it's a bit naive to say "don't let media rule your life", because it isn't as easy as that.
We (or they) were grown up in a society with those standards imprinted. It's not easy to change that. Especially when media is spewing out the same messages over and over again everywhere through commercials and adverts, movies, TV-shows, etc, during all hours of the day.
Its weird actually. It almost seems like they are joking.
I got this friend of mine who is 1.63m tall, pretty fit (can rock the shit out of any clothes she'd like, so she would look nice in just about anything), GREAT CANS (both behind and in front, especially in front), CUTE AS FUCK face with the cutest cheeks and beautiful eyes (brown, but with a really nice shape) and straight light brown long hair with blond highlights.
Whenever I say she is hot and one hell of a dream (she is actually, I kind of like her and how she fits me perfectly in every way) she doesn't believes it and dismisses it, saying she is pretty normal and so on.
I think its sort of due to guy trouble, since they were always pricks who just dated her for a while and left her.
Its pretty weird how some think that about themselves. On the other hand, there are 100% bitches that whenever you say they look beautiful, they either answer with a "thank you" with a thought of ("I know I look good") or they answer "damn right! im the best".
I don't know if thats a self-esteem counter-measure or if its just plain vanity over themselves and "i dont need no man nor anyone to tell me i'm awesome" shit attitude.
I have refrained from telling the girl I've been seeing for a while now that I think she is beautiful for this very reason. There is no point in doing it since she will just dismiss it and think I am dishonest or something. If I were to assume that she will react in a similar way to when I told her that I find her interesting.

Being confident is bitchy? :v:
Guess I'm a bitch then :v:
Let's put it this way
Has it occured to you that some girls might find you sexy as hell but you never believe it because it's "too good to be true"? (and that would be partly because media hammers in your head that the male body is repulsive)
Now think about it from a girl's perspective
they're hammered the whole "ideal body" thing constantly, on TV, in newspaper, magazines, bus stop ads...
see where this is going?
Most hot women are either bitchy, up them selves or fucking weird.

Of course, but it's not only an "ideal body" that is imposed. There are also gender roles, status, power, money, etc.

Being confident is one thing.
Now fiddling around all pretty and shit while being overly confident as if you were on the top of the top of the fucking world is another.
I had a friend like this, and I liked her aswell. She (apparently?) rejected me because I'm not big enough to smash her whole body with a small hug (not a "Chris Redfield" kind of guy) and because I'm not ~~hip~~ like her. Nobody was good enough for her, and just a while ago, she dumped yet another guy because he was a bit douchy, which imo just had a small laugh at her and she went balistic (as usual)
Worse than that only the bitches who were on my class that judged me BY THE COLORS OF MY SOCKS, and in the end are found half naked with some guy's shirt on a street completely wasted.
Girls don't usually give themselves enough credit. But the idea of what the normal female figure is has been completely fucked up. Look at any painting of an attractive woman from the renaissance or earlier.

This actually. True as fuck.

Agree man. I once discussed this with some friends of mine, and I decided to compare male-magazines(FHM, Maxim etc) and female magazines.
The magazines directed towards males were all about babes, hobbies, cars and gadgets(and some fashion stuff). Now, when I looked at magazines for females, many of them had: "Be sexy, you have to have this piece of expensive clothing to look good, be slim, do botox, plastic surgery, improve yourself" plastered over the cover.
It's hammered into their brain almost from birth that they are not good enough, and need to constantly improve themselves. Now, even some male-magazines are doing this too. It's very unhealthy, and will lead to heaps of depressed people that think they're never good or "sexy" enough.
Jesus Christ complimenting people doesn't need to have a motive nor does it need to be a cheat code, that way of thinking is "Nice Guy" mentality.
simply giving someone light compliments does not make me someone who thinks girls are mathematical functions that I can put the right number into to get the right value of x
To be honest doing this poll may have been a bit irresponsible...
Lots of women were probably grappling with themselves in their minds pulling themselves to bits just so they could answer...
They should start using "XL" models like this:

Instead of "normal" models like this:

Pictures not tagged to save the most sensitive people from the horrors of underwear.
7 in 8 females do not have self image issues. They just want attention. 7 in 8 is a HUGE, unrealistic percentage of people to all have a very negative outlook on their physical image, enough to say, flat out, that they're not even attractive.

so what? just because the "percentage is not realistic", it's false? what kind of bullshit argument is this
