Blame tumblr for this because of all those black & white blogs that repost 0.5 second gifs.
Do you really think animated images on the internet cause people to end their lives or harm themselves? Are you actually being serious? Get fucking real.
California's 5150 law (of which I've been thrown into a mental hospital for five days under before) has me in constant fear of even hinting that I might be suicidal to any mental health care professional. That's kind of a problem since it prevents me from getting the care I need. Mental health care in the US in general is absymally awful.

Shove it under the rug. Problem solved.

It works like propaganda, it's actually a very popular trend since 2014. 14 year old girls start pretending to be depressed and repost hundreds of those black & white self-harm images on tumblr. Then once they don't get enough attention they eat paracetamol and ruin their livers.

Do you have any sources for this?

Do you have any statistical evidence of this backed by a study or do you just enjoy spouting baseless, idiotic and insulting conjecture?
I know two people who have died from prescription painkiller abuse. Neither of them "chose" to start doing their stuff - both of them got injuries and were prescribed it by a doctor, and then continued using it after they had been using it under doctor's orders for months.
When a doctor says "take this it'll make you feel better," and you get addicted to it, did you really make that choice? You deferred to the doctor's experience and knowledge, and that, combined with a genetic predisposition to addiction, gets you killed.
I've done a load of drugs and I'm lucky enough to not be particularly predisposed to addiction. I've also seen friends fall into cycles of addiction where they stopped making choices and their brain's physical requirement for the drug started making those choices for them.
Addiction is not a personal flaw, it's a health issue, and if you're going to blame individuals for getting addicted to drugs and excuse their suicide or overdoses because of one bad decision, just know that if you ever get cancer it's probably because of that one time you yelled at your dog and so you deserved it. The just-world fallacy is absolute horseshit - if you think that way, I feel sorry for you.
Why are you equating painkiller addiction with all addiction? Opiate addiction only accounts for ~6% of people who receive treatment for drug addiction. (https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/treatment-statistics)
The addict chooses to start doing stuff like heroin, oxy, vicodin, and fent. No one forced you to do any of it. The addiction may push you deeper and make it harder to quit doing them, but the reality is that under almost all circumstances, you pick up the pills, needle, or snort the line.
You got the choice to not do it, and when you have withdrawal because you need to pay some pills, and have no money for whatever your vice is, you have the decision to go clean then by popping some aspirin and chewing on some vitamins, and just dealing with the four day come down.
This is talking from experience by the way.
This is probably one of the most ignorant posts I've seen here and I've been lurking here for more than a decade.
I've been isolated and had no friends all of high school and all of college and I've struggled with severe depression and suicide.
Nothing has changed.

I think I'm gonna just cut all the video games and stuff that's "supplimented my satisfaction" in life without me even knowing it and just fight my way out of misery.

Personally I wouldn't cut those things out of your life, but rather balance them. If something poses harm to yourself (such as playing video games to the point it impacts responsibilities etc) you should cut it out, but never cut something out of your life "because other people dont approve" or "this is how I SHOULD be".
Rather, you should embrace your hobbies and use them to find people who are similar to yourself. The main issue is that people say "oh the people like me are hard to find" or "what if they dont like what I like." People in this position forget that it is ALRIGHT to not get on with a person and if you dont like them you are under no obligation to conform yourself to their views.
Find people that you enjoy to be around and hang out with them at your own luxury. I find that people pressure and beat themselves up to be "normal" according to the perceived expectations of other people and their standards. The issue with this is that nothing will ever be good enough for you if you look across the aisle and say "man I wish I was that relaxed around girls" or any form of wanting to improve yourself according to others because you will lose yourself AND still feel that incessant wanting of incompleteness.
Also try to create goals. Goals for everyday, goals for the week, goals for the year and goals for life. These give you direction and by accomplishing these goals you get to see actual improvement and progress which will make you feel indescribably better. And the goals don't have to be complicated, for example I had a recent resurgence of depression and stopped taking care of my teeth as a result. So I started up a goal of brushing at least twice a day, and a separate goal of buying/using a portable toothbrush case.
Because of this I put myself back into the habit of taking care of myself, and on top of it I made it even better by using the time to get myself into the habit of taking a portable brush around with me.
This in turn made me feel healthier and more confident, and encourages more goal setting.

If they're at the point of killing themselves what makes you think they're going to seek out fucking medical help?

"Just stop being addicted jesus whats the big deal you have a choice"
This is an astounding lack of real world experience
