This is exactly what I said when I heard Joe's song.
It's not really free if they make thousands and thousands of dollars worth of kickbacks off one of their old songs
Morello said the majority will be going to a UK charity which aims to improve facilities for UK musicians.
This is a reply from Joe on mirror news or something. I always wanted to know what his view on it was.

"X Factor winner Joe McElderry was sickened when he finally listened to his big rival for Christmas number one this year.
On the back of a huge Facebook campaign, Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name Of’ may beat Joe’s single ‘The Climb’ to the number one spot this Sunday. Up until now Joe hasn’t offered an opinion on the song, saying that he doesn’t know it, or the band. However yesterday the 18 year old had it played for him and he wasn’t a bit pleased with what he heard.
He told The Sun:
“They can’t be serious! I had no idea what it sounded like. It’s dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this? Can you imagine the grandmas hearing this over Christmas lunch?
“I wouldn’t buy it. It’s a nought out of ten from me. Simon Cowell wouldn’t like it. They wouldn’t get through to boot camp on The X Factor – they’re just shouting.”
Joe added: “I will be really disappointed if it doesn’t go to No1 after all the effort I’ve put in to this and winning the show.”

How can you be a music star when you haven't even HEARD of Rage against the machine? It's like that Misteeq woman on I'm a Celebrity get me out of here?!, where she didn't even know one of her own songs, on her own album for a task question (Someone else got it).
He's a fucking sheltered little music industry suck up bastard. Any respectable musician would see the musical value in Rage's stuff even if they didn't like it.
The whole charity thing makes me forget my anger (My rage if you will) and I thoroughly support RATM.
I may even buy the single.
That's awesome, definately going if it's on.
I bought my copy, and I will go to the UK to see the show :)
we hate capitalism, but don't forget to buy our records!!!
we hate capitalism, but don't forget to buy our records!!!
All proceeds are going to charity...
For the UK concert, they changed the lyrics to "Pardon, but I'd rather not do that."
Get out of it, you bally chit, or I'll make sod to your mothers sweet dark crevice, till it features a dead nice bouquet of her offal poking out every-which-way. I'll then tie her up so the rats can gingerly peck at her freshly distended poop-dispenser, whilst she sings God Save the Queen between mouth loads of my tidy bollocks.
In that case, 0.40p isn't that high of a price for a ticket
0.4p? Hhaha you mean't 40p ;)

Let's do it ratm
It's not ironic in the slightest.
It wasn't until the group reached about 700,000 Rage actually officially gave their support... they didn't kickstart this for their own benefit.
They aren't making any profit at all from the sales, it's all going to the Shelter charity.
Shelter have also rased roughly £30,000 in excess donations from the Facebook group.
Rage are signed to Simon Cowells record label, but this isn't a campaign to steal money from Simon. It's a campaign to say we're fucking sick of getting corporate mainstream bullshit shoved down our throats.
You say it as if we're substituting one piece of modern day mainstream shit for another which isn't the case. It's about the song's message.
I'm sorry, but I 'd.
"We're tired of this mainstream shit music getting shoved down our throats; let's boycott this shitty mainstream music with mainstream music that's still shit but only slightly less shit!"
Again, out of all the bands out there, they had to pick Rage.
The only metal band out there that'd be a worse choice than Rage is Slipknot. I'd even take goddamn Disturbed over Rage.
(And to those who think that "Rage isn't mainstream", when about 1 in 3 people I know at my high school WHO LISTEN TO HIP-HOP OR CLASSIC ROCK know who Rage is and potentially have an album or two, they're mainstream.)

:synpa:
The point isn't the label or the band or even the song; it's the fact that it was started because people were tired of the charts being lorded over by a most blatant mainstream marketing steal, and that people, when rallied together, can make a difference, even if it's something quite so superficial as this.

Personally I think getting Rick Astley to the top of VH1 or w/e was a better display of ePower than this campaign.
People cared about it about as much as they will this one. Meaning not at all.
Christmas number 1 is most definitely a much more solid record than a top video countdown on one channel

Fair enough, and I concede your point.
The majority of the populace still won't care, and will still go out and buy that mainstream crap you guys are opposing.
Since, you know, that's the definition of mainstream.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposing the movement. I just think it's kind of stupid.
Showing off the power of the Tubes is fine by me; it's not my money I'm wasting on a song I don't like it.

I think they should have picked some sort of long experimental sound collage so all the people will be confused as fuck when they hear that something like that made the charts.
It's a song that's ten years old and isn't very good, why can't they just let Disney win.
This is exactly what I said when I heard Joe's song.
Haha I agree, why cover a song by *Miley Cyrus*? lol
Edit
Sorry, I mean *sang by* Miley Cyrus, I doubt she wrote any of it
I will be really disappointed if it doesn’t go to No1 after all the effort I’ve put in to this and winning the show.
Be disappointed you fairy.
He's not entitled to anything.
It's a song that's ten years old and isn't very good, why can't they just let Disney win.
Disney is shit.

:frog:
Oh wow, now that i think about it......
No, as this isn't for their benefit.
Why does that matter?
It's not really free if they make thousands and thousands of dollars worth of kickbacks off one of their old songs
He's donating loads to charity.
So did we win?
So did we win?
Nobody has a clue until sunday.
Also, it's not quite over yet, we still have 25 minutes :v:
BUY BUY BUY! Come on people, final push!
I loved it when they were on BBC radio 5, and they were told not to say any swear words, but did anyway.
But not until lulling them into a false sense of security by just saying "I won't do what ya tell me" a few time, until the music built up, and then, "FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YA TELL ME! FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YA TELL ME!" etc. And then they cut them off and said "we told them not to do that".
I think the beautiful thing about that is that THEY TOLD THEM NOT TO, so obviously their response is FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YA TELL ME. Haha. Lyrics ringing so true.
