I like how everyone acts like a tough guy here yet I can assure you that most of you would be too afraid to do anything.

I assumed you meant the torturers where going to rape the people in the house since they where black.

Guns are not the solution, building up a better society, is. We have no guns here in Denmark, and we're doing pretty well, compared to pretty much the rest of the world. Robberies will always happen, and it's not certain in any way that owning a gun would have produced a better outcome. Crimes happen because of social issues, whether it'd be money or some other reason, and you'll have to fix that in order to stop this kind of thing. And with a gun, three men would have died (and if they didn't die, the family would probably get hurt much more than they did in this case) and while it may seem insane, I'd say it's better that one person get tortured than risking lives and killing people.

That's why in home invasion cases it's generally a better idea to shoot the criminal immediately. It's dangerous to do otherwise.

Anyone can drop a scenario and make the gun the bad guy, but the truth is in most situations having a gun to defend yourself sure will even the odds.
