The handgun reigns supreme for home defense. A laser sight/light combo on a rail beneath the barrel and you not only gain a substantial benefit to your accuracy when scared, but you can also blind the fuck out of your assailant and decrease the likelihood of them pressing the issue. Tac lights are BRIGHT. If you have kids, you can keep the handgun in safe next to your bed. The kid will likely never get in, and you have access when you need it. (Although nothing is a substitute for simply teaching the child proper gun safety.)

Yeah, and guns are absolutely infallible. so much so, EVERYONE should own one. They should have guns at every point in their house, and guns also bring dead people back, and they fix the wounds the guy in this articled sustained. What the hell is this supposed to mean? The gun is the great equalizer. If someone attacked another person and the attacker completely outclassed the victim physically a gun would take away the advantage the attacker has.
It doesn't matter if someone is an expert marksman or not. When you use a gun to defend yourself you aim towards the center of your attacker. I certainly hope you're not implying that someone who isn't an expert marksman doesn't deserve to defend their own life with a gun.

At a range of <15 yards inside a home, you don't need to be.
I however, visit the range many times a month and am a pretty proud shot. I have my right to own guns and a own quite a few of them.
