I'd like to play it for the comedic value, but I just can't pay $60 for that. I'll be waiting on a sale before I sink any money into this.
I was expecting a game with classic FPS mechanics like having more than just 2 weapons, alt-fires, secret levels/weapons, and health packs.
Instead I got a hypocritical game with extremely linear levels, terrible vehicle sections, and all-around-boring gameplay.

You know there's multiple ways to get it. You could ask a friend to buy it for you.

unless it's like a birth day gift why would they
i dont understand how a game in 12 years of development can feel rushed :saddowns:
The game probably is not as bad as it seems, it is all the hype surrounding the game that made it such a disaster.

it's been scrapped many times over. it's probably only really been in production for a couple of years
Ive been playing it at a friends house, is ok I guess. The humour is a little dry, the graphics are shitty compared to what theyu should be, game play is meh, story line is okay, mechanics are alright with cool use of world items, over all, id give it a 7/10
The gameplay doesn't look like anything special, but the whole premise of the game is hilarious.
The only thing keeping Duke Nukem going is the mediocre campy character. Without that the series would have flopped 12 years ago.

Metro is better then most games out now.

You know there's multiple ways to get it. You could ask a friend to buy it for you.
by multiple ways, I mean you could also ask your parents.
The developers added a whole shit load of small things to do like life weights and shit like that, all to peddle the campy character. They did everything but release a good shooter.
I tried the early games of this, I have no idea why anyone liked them.
I propose a different developer make the next Duke game.
One of the first things Duke does in the new one is look at something related to DNF (the game box maybe) and mention something along the lines of being really drunk the night before. Essentially retcon the entire game.
Regardless of what the general public says, i'm still going to buy this.
Who could seriously have thought this game would be good
[editline]13th June 2011[/editline]
As fun as the old duke games were every bit of the press before release made it look awful
Come on guys, what did you expect, even 12 years cant net you the perfect game, and as DNF goes it's pretty damn good... it's very interactive, it's funny, the combat sequences are fun, silly things like picking up rats and squishing them or writing SUCK MY DICK on the whiteboard is pretty fun. The graphics aren't great but they're not everything, and most importantly, there are tits. It's an overall very fun game.
That's all fun if you're like 8
It was expected, they tried to fit "modern FPSs" game mechanics in a title that was meant to be released in early-2000.
I'm really enjoying it, It's like a combination of all the Duke games in one game, the humor is good, immature but good.

Or if you're not a complete stuck-up faggot and you know how to kick back and have fun.
I think the reason it didn't get that many good reviews is becuase everyone expected it to
be of such blinding brilliance, that they set there levels hish while reviewing it.
IMO, it was a good game, i would play it again, sure it was boring in places and some of it was repetitive,
but it was a good play, they delivered the game (all be it 13 years late) and it was "good"...
Not surprising, looked crap since the first gameplay shots, only good thing was Duke but oe-liners get old after a while when the gameplay is shit.

It's not about actually being imature, it's just that if you go through life being serious about everything then you will end up lying on your deathbed wondering where the last 80 or so years went.
It's important to revert to being a 12 year old every now and again, It's why we find slapstick humour funny. Or when you with you mates and one of them does something ridiculous, you find it somehow so fucking funny, you laugh for minutes. Yes you could look back and say "god that was stupid" but you laughed at the time. It's also so much effort being serious all the time, i wonder how people do it.
this game isn't some sort of deep philosphy on humour or even some brilliant slapstick comedy. It's just stupid and forced humour. Half of it isn't even funny.
Oh, by the way, if it wasn't posted yet:

DNF can only be enjoyed by those who were highly impressed and 'scarred' - mind you, in the good way - by the original games. Indeed, what can only be enjoyed are his awesome lines, his 90s personality and woman-defying masculinity. Although most of it is just simply shoved into the player's face, trying to make him understand what is going on in Duke's head[s]. Simply, it's overdone.
One of Norway's major newspapers gave it 1/6.
