I agree with everyone saying that DN3D was funny because DN was basically a cliche of action heroes.
They should have stuck with that, and updated the game's jokes to be a cliche of FPS games like COD.
They should have stuck with the old-school numbered health system, and it should have had tons of dumb jokes making fun of the FPS genre and other video games and movies.
I'll still buy this eventually because I am nostalgic for DN3D, but it sounds like they went the wrong direction and changed the jokes in a negative way.

There was an old SomethingAwful thread where they went on the 3D Realms forums and found a thread where the developers were asking for ideas for scripted sequences. Almost all the suggestions were lurid descriptions of women getting raped. gg.

As much as that would be amazing to have it be like Duke 3D, Whoopsalot is right, in the end Gearbox still has to make money and at least try to get new generation gamers to get some interest in Duke and see if they want to make another. IGN was hating on Duke for not being like CoD for some small 90s mechanics, I could imagine what would happend if it basically a 90s game, IGN would of ripped it apart like nothing, especially if it touched CoD for a small joke.

I'm pretty sure the women getting raped is not a joke in the slightest, considering it is part of the story line and why the aliens are taking the women because they want to make them pregnant.
This was also present in Duke 3D where you had women trapped in green slime and naked getting raped, there was even a video shown to Duke that showed a women getting raped and giving birth to an alien. In Duke 3D they moaned and looked hurt and said "help me" only way to help them was to kill them.

in duke nukem 3d, the captured girls were just safely sitting in eggs, and you could take them out and save them
in DNF they were actively being raped, moaning, and exploding with alien babies, the only way to save them being mercy kills

Nope, but yes it's still disgusting but I'm just saying it's not a joke and I doubt that the 3D Realms Devs were mentally sick and thought raping women was really fun or funny in the slightest. It just provides an explanation to why the aliens are stealing women.
Also surprisingly I doubt any of the Duke 3D fans from back then complained about it considering if they did, it probably wouldn't be in DNF.

It would be another 12 years then. Valve loves making games that satisfies the consumer. Gabe has so much fucking money to toss around that he lets all his developers restart the projects if they don't like their result.
I like to think Valve has way too much class to even touch a game like this.
This game has been heavily anticipated for nearly a decade. It is finally coming out in what is largely regarded by the majority of people on facepunch as the period of the worst shooter gamers since DOOM and Duke Nukem 3D were around.

Don't care really about any problems of it. I just like it. In my opinion it's funny, it's interesting, duke is funny and the thing I wanted: " You can click and press different buttons in world, pick up shit etc.. "

My thoughts exactly, they wanted to just release the game. They even noted when they first got it that everything was there.
