Can I make a few things clear?
1. The development of DNF was not 12 years, but 4 (for the current build)
2. All Gearbox did was "polish a turd," that is, made the game into working order for release. They shouldn't be held responsible for the majority of the suckage.
Are these conclusions okay? Can we have a smarter argument with these facts?
They said they weren't trying to make a ground breaking game.. I find it funny how people are expecting another CoD or another Gears of War or something impressive like that. No, its for the fans; the ones who got them to revive the project. And I think they did a pretty good job capturing the classic awesomeness of the game with awesome phrases and many things that you can play with in the game. I think the game is pretty fun along with all the references and easter eggs. Anyway /end rant its your opinion.
Edit: I also find it funny how the game isn't angsty <3 Its a nice change from the emo heros in other games.

Also, no, the whole reason DNF has been in development for 12 years or whatever is because George Broussard wanted to make a game that was as groundbreaking as DN3D was when it came out.
I think my brother gave the best possible review for this game.
Me: Is that new Duke Nukem game fun?
Him: It's alright. It's Duke Nukem.
That's really all there is to say about this game. There's nothing that sets it apart from any other generic FPS released in the last decade. It's just Duke Nukem.

A mediocre shooter with a dumb story, funny jokes, and interesting multiplayer.
Duke Nukem 3D had pretty great online multiplayer for the time.
Shrink rays & decoys and whatnot.
I was expecting it to play more like serious sam.
Would have been happy with something like that.
