there are at least three explanations for this: -Donald Trump is mentally ill -Someone told him they need to show (financial) transparency when it comes to the wall, and this is what came out -Someone told him they can only reasonably build a glorified fence and this is how he's brilliantly using his business acumen to spin it

Sounds a lot like he's back-peddling from a wall to a fence but doesn't want people to notice. His next thing will be using the solar power for a thermal defence system. As in the sun makes the metal too hot to comfortably touch.

It's becoming quite clear that Trump doesn't intend to build a wall, but rather to slap a fresh coat of paint on the existing wall and hail it as a promise kept. The wall proposal has been scaling down since the moment he became president. Every week sees new "compromises" on it. What was originally going to be a "big, beautiful wall!" has morphed into nothing more than a fence. Look at what he's said in just the past couple of days: 1) Wall needs to be made of steel, with gaps placed in it so that we can "see what's happening" on the other side. 2) The wall doesn't actually need to cross the border, because of natural obstacles such as mountains, rivers, and distance. Does that sound familiar? If it doesn't, it should, because what Trump is describing is the majority of the [B]current, existing[/B] border fence. Which, mind you, doesn't actually do all that much to prevent immigration, smuggling, or trafficking.
