Instead you need to word it differently by saying something along the lines of using the same engine and even though the graphics get updated, the engine is used for the same purpose unlike valve whom they update the engine but they make a game to show off the new tech that they put in.

Not buying it is just one step, but if I go and still play it, I'm showing that "Yeah, I still want to play this stuff, I just don't want to give them any money for it." I'm still condoning it, just not endorsing it. I have to draw a line somewhere. Even if it genuinely is a fun and enjoyable game, I'm still going to keep to my word.
