if you think america's poor has it bad, you are clueless of what it's like for the majority of the world
and in america, there's all these services to help out the poor. it might not feel like much, but in many countries, you can be left with LITERALLY NOTHING.
When you look at me and go "there are children starving" when I throw out the rest of a sandwich I don't want I'm going to not be won over by your trying to make me feel awful for having X resource. It doesn't make mine or anyones situation magically not as shitty.
The thinking is the government isn't a bottomless feeding trough and it pays to keep spending low.
but americans starving in america because we can't be bothered to help, what does that say about the worlds most powerful, wealthiest country that we cannot feed our poor or take care of them because we cannot suddenly afford it, in the 30's we decided nobody should have to starve in america, why can't we still do that today
Then why aren't the obvious money hoarders chipping in? are they really THAT self-centered?
I said that's the rational behind it.
Since you asked, when JP Morgan was alive HE bailed out the US government. It was out of self interest but it seems the money grubbers of that time were not as short sighted as the ones now.
The money grubbers of today, let me put it this way. Things are going to get worse and the dumb rich ones who wont share their wealth will be seeing fire and pitchforks on their door steps.
Why aren't we cutting things that use up a larger chunk of the federal budget instead, like military spending
Capitalism requires that there will be a population of folks in poverty, wouldn't it be the more moral thing to do to help these people rather than cut spending in programs people desperately need. ESPECIALLY since the US doesn't have things like universal healthcare.
I did say I was poor. I do use programs. I was pointing out the other sides thinking.
The three biggest expenditures in US are social security, health care and military.
The debt needs to be addressed. If there is no funding then the moral thing can't come to fruitition any ways.

Seeing what led to my current state and having seen other peoples fortunes fall, I would argue for a better mental health care system
