Don't know if this has been brought up anywhere, but "Once you upgrade, you have Windows 10 for free on that device." The keywords in question here being what does it define as a device. Your current set of hardware? And if so, what if something breaks? Like you have to replace your motherboard or something, do you lose your copy? If this is the case, it might not be an issue right now "You can just reserve another copy". But what after the initial year, when Windows 10 starts costing cash? Will I actually have to upgrade to fork out cash for a copy of 10 at that point instead of just reinstalling the one I obtained earlier? For the record, I will give the OS a shot. I just hope that the above question is just paranoia on my part.
I'd imagine you would install Windows 7 with your 7 CD key and it might detect that you upgraded to 10 and offers you a download to upgrade MS haven't really explained stuff like this right now, so I can't be too sure if that would happen. But maybe your 7 cd key would work with 10?
[t]http://7proxies.pw/i/2015/06/15-06-02_12-55-47.png[/t] Setting default and logging out changes the display language as well
I said it's a pain in the arse on Windows 7 Home Premium, where you can't install Japanese without finding the language cabinet and either using Vistalizator or the command line program to install it. I reread my first post and it seems a bit ambiguous now. I meant that since the program doesn't have a Windows 8 version and that the language list for Windows 8 doesn't list a required version that they are probably available on any edition.
I'm mad because my bro got the notification last night and I still don't have mine. :( I want 10 in my mouth right now!

The current situation with the Windows 8.1 keys is they are not valid for fresh installation, so you have to go and find an installation key (which microsoft happen to just provide if you know where to look) then activate Windows with your upgrade key once installed.
Which would be wonderful if i owned a copy of either, which I don't.
Grab a friend who happens to be a Student or is in the Dreamspark program. I paid a buddy of mine's around 9 pounds (which costed be around 15 USD) for a Windows 8.1 Pro key.
I mean, this thread alone has had a few prime examples of people who are either intentionally avoiding it for dumb reasons- or are misinformed/lacking direct confirmation over things that people have thrown absolute tantrums over in the past, showing there could be plenty of people out there still under that impression- the most actual hard info I've seen people constantly grind at in the past few months has been the fucking garbage can icon changing and looking too isometric or cartoony or otherwise off-perspective, if that's all the dirt people are digging up then I think we're in for a pretty smooth ride
But then we've got actual "shit might be broken" problems where people are concerned about no longer updated legacy programs (which I guess can be fixed with a VM) or, more unfixable, legacy games that use outdated methods of rendering which already lost support in 8 so that they don't work, and it's very improbable that they'll add it back in for any reason. Either way I'm still going to be updating, but I can see why some people might be reluctant to move from 7.
