Yet another "popular sure doens't mean right" situation (Twilight).
The Twilight Rifftrax is pretty funny. Just putting this out here.
ITT: Series fanboys argue about which show is better. House is clearly the best.
read the thread. Also, http://beatcrave.com/2009-07-02/digital-music-piracy/ It's about music piracy, but I think it relates.

I don't think they lose any money. If there's no possibility of watching it free, that doesn't mean people buy it. Hell there are so many bullshit films I wouldn't even spend 1€ on them because it's a waste of space on my shelf if I had a hard copy. Best example is my Xbox360. I have 2 games for it. yes 2. 4 if you count the two that came with the bundle but I don't play them. I get all my games from the video rental store (whatever it's called in english) EDIT: And I have my Xbox for over a year now
durf I did. :downs:
Doesn't look like you did. :saddowns: Most people are justifying or condemning piracy.
I think it is funny BBC also studied the Top Gear downloads. It is obviously going to be high when access to the show is hard outside of the UK.
Considering it says in the article that it says over 17 million views of Watchmen, were taken by internet piracy, it seems odd to me that giant companies like the RIAA and Warner Bros. are complaining about it, considering that not only did the $150 Million dollar movie earn $30 million in profit but also that the company itself is far above the green level. In fact, Warner Brothers is earning $850 million in income. So they have nothing to complain about. The only reason they're complaining about piracy is because their fat, bond-insured asses aren't satisfied with the millions they have in their bank accounts, while other people can't afford to fix the holes in their walls - especially in this recession. As far as I'm concerned, this makes sense to me, money out of their pockets, money saved to buy food at the supermarket.
Explain your post to me then, because what you said was, "if you charged everyone only 2 dollars to watch watchmen, they'd still be losing 33,812,904 Dollars". Nowhere does it say "possible income" or "money they could have made". Don't try to change your point, why you even give a shit about piracy when it isn't affecting you is enough for me to consider you unintelligent.
You can't read. Sorry I didn't want to have to be the one to tell you this. [editline]02:54PM[/editline] Here's a picture [editline]02:55PM[/editline] Why do you give a shit about debating piracy?
I really didn't expect benjamin button to be on there. Below: BECAUSE I CAN

Not once did you say anything about predicted or possible sales, or anything to do with money they could have made, only did you say that they would lose money. You sir, are fucking retarded. Not to mention everyone is either disagreeing with your posts, or calling you dumb, so I'll just leave you in your small little padded room to knock it around with your mind for a little.

Read it for the 31st time please. [editline]03:00PM[/editline] "Let's try to take someone's arguments apart with technicalities rather than debating the actual problem because we know we are too dimwitted to do so"
Actually I as a male thought Twilight was great and proceded to buy it 10 times and become a member of the fan club. not.
Waffle, Watchmen has been out on DVD for a little over a month, you're assuming that they won't make any more money. See for yourself as it grosses somewhere around $500M in DVD and BD sales.
I never said anything at any point of them not making any more money, I'm just pointing out that there is a massive loss of money made from piracy. [editline]03:12PM[/editline] He's not even debating with me over that, he's trying to point out some irrelevant fact that he thinks I care about. [editline]03:13PM[/editline] I'll save you the trouble and just bandwagon myself mysterious rating stalker.
Why do you give a shit about debating piracy?
Probably because it's an issue in todays world and who knows maybe people enjoy debating issues that could affect them vOv.
Their sole objective is making as much money as possible. To have a business as successful as say Warner Brothers they can't look at the human element of piracy. It's much more profitable to just look at a bunch of figures and try to make them as efficient as possible. Caring is bad business. Of course I don't agree with that train of thought but that's probably why I'm not a billionaire.
Probably because it's an issue in todays world and who knows maybe people enjoy debating issues that could affect them vOv.
That was my point... It was a response directed at him for wondering why I cared about piracy.
Oh sorry, my bad.
Where the fuck is Weeds?
why are people pirating those shows? you can get most all of them for free, legally, right off of the channel's website. and they're all shit shows. [editline]12:20PM[/editline] except for Lost and House :coal:
I thought for sure Penn and teller bullshit would be there just cause I've only been able to watch it on HBO once.
Lost is free to watch on ABC.com, why would you pirate it?
Hahaha, people torrent Bolt and Twilight?
Around a week ago some guy came up to me (selling pirated DVD's) and made a collection of "2010" movies, and those were on it. Fucker won't stop following me, too.
Where the fuck is Weeds?
Some show about a family that grows pot in a super nice country-club neighborhood? At least that is what the advert looked like.
Lost is free to watch on ABC.com, why would you pirate it?
NOT pirate, download it. Am I restricted to use different source now? I personally prefer torrents because I get much faster than, for example, from abc

They could counter the pirating if they just released the movies like a week after all showings in cinemas instead of waiting a freaking 6 months to release them. I mean the showing of the movie doesn't take more then a month or two so they are definately sitting out the time for no reason. Have the translations and all the other files ready at premiere and release the movie a week after all showings in the world is over. I think you would find that piracy would fall after that, because people want to see the movie (if it is good, of course) as soon as possible. I mean, I would very much like to see District 9 now instead of waiting until christmas to watch it again.
prison break wooo
I thought for sure Penn and teller bullshit would be there just cause I've only been able to watch it on HBO once.
Well probably because Penn And Teller is on Showtime.
