Said reasons are all pretty much 100% irrational in this day and age, but you can't blame a person for attempting to do something like this; they likely had the whole 'purity' shebang crammed in their head since childhood by radical parents. The sad thing is that they have good intentions at heart - they think that they're doing something good for the world - but they probably don't realize that measures like this would do more harm than good, if the courts even allowed them to be enforced in the first place.

It should be demonized when it causes harm, but otherwise not celebrated or demonized at all. Relationships, intelligence, and sex can either go together correctly or clash violently. Some people would rather want to get rid of more structured relationships in favour of more sex, others want people to be less promiscuous in favour of more structured relationships. I'm the latter, but that doesn't matter, I'm just saying that there are more than just religious or ~purity~ reasons to be against a more promiscuous society, but in this case it is entirely fucking stupid, harmful towards relationships and in general too, and for reasons of ~gawd and purity~.
