People who don't wear helmets and crack their heads open tie up emergency services who could be dealing with other problems, there's a good chance they'll end up eating taxpayer dollars in the emergency room, etc. Like I said, it's more about protecting other people than protecting the cyclist.

Once the government becomes invested in your health directly they could basically tell you what to do in many ways....
You might get too fat if you eat too much, obesity is one of the leading causes of death in this country the last time i checked. Smoking too.
Prolonged internet usage effects your eyes and probably isn't too healthy generally either, guess that has to go..
