Are you texting?
And high?
The horrifying thing about this?
Chicago has some of of the most strict gun-control laws in the US.
Well that's probably in response to the gang presence. It's not like loosening up those laws would help anything. The gangs are the core of the problem.

Loosening laws would not do anything to the crime situation. That's why they should be loosened.

Trolling.
Also, I live not far from Chicago. Actually I live about an hour away. It's kind of sad because we hear this stuff on our local news.
I wish that gangs still had some sense of respect and honor. I hate to glorify old organized crime but at least they where more careful and less children were gunned down.
except you get all your ideas about old organized crime through movies, which are far from reality.
lots and lots of people were killed during the prohibition era and even then respect and honour is kind of moot when you abuse and force women into prostitution.
the oldie times organized crime is a fantasy, it's still exactly the same shit
At least they had at least some form of order. Yes they killed people, but nothing like at the levels street gangs do today.
hmm you might want to source that.
^ man is right - although hollywood has saturated society with images of glamorous, honourable "made men" etc etc it's really not the reality. Crime hasn't gotten worse, our memories have.
These things happen quite a bit.
An armed bank robber was arrested across the street.
A shooting on the red line occured a while ago.
A friend of mine got mugged on the Green Line.
Coffee is racist, almost no one likes black coffee, you have to add white stuff to it.
Printer paper is racist, no one uses black printer paper.
Apple is racist, their computers are white and cost more.
The M16 is racist, it's black and it kills people. (likewise, if it's camo, it's TAN and it kills people. True terrorist)
Butter is racist, it's yellow and it's weak.
Blackboards are racist, white chalk creates things, black erasers destroy.
[sp]if you think I'm serious you're an idiot[/sp]
Garry hates black people; the background to FP is white

Hollywood likes to portray the 'good old days'.
But that's because there's no such thing, the 'good old days' never existed.
I wish that gangs still had some sense of respect and honor. I hate to glorify old organized crime but at least they where more careful and less children were gunned down.
why does everyone seem to have this weird idea that criminals were more 'honourable' in the old days? heck if anything they were worse back then, bribing and murdering politicians and shit like that. all the 'respect' and 'honour' talk is pretty much the same in gangs as it was in mafias or whatever, honour = don't collaborate with cops or enemies, respect = don't start shit with harder cunts than you
Chicago needs a real batman it seems.

That reminds me. There was this black chick flashing her titties in front of her boyfriend's camcorder down in the Washington Red Line Station earlier this week. 20 or so people were standing there just watching as she poses her boobs for some amateur fetish film or something.

I have no doubt they were horrible individuals, after all they were violent criminals. I still think it was better than our current situation were you can be gunned down because you happen to own the wrong color hat. Back in the day the Mafia would kill you if lived in a mob town and you refused to pay them a percentage of your businesses money; now zetas will ride in and cut off the arms and head of you, your family, and other random people in your town just to dump you in a ditch just because they can.
Is there some sort of heatmap for the violence recently?
(How bad is California on green, how awful has 95th been, etc.)
When I'm not back home, like I am now, I live in Lincoln Park.
I'm used to hearing the occasional gunshot outside my window, even though it's supposed to be a very safe area.

Statistics to back that up?

Not really, you and I both know that the only reason they don't do that anymore is because they don't have the power or money to. They don't do it because they can't do it, that does not make them better.
Is there a correlation between this and the ending of the Daley dynasty of the Chicago mayor's office?
Doctors should refuse treatment on anyone with gang affiliation. I never normally think of shit republicans would probably say but it seems pretty reasonable to me.

I would say arrest of gangmembers on sight, but that wouldn't work very well without prison reform.
Man, the new mayor either sucks or is working with the gangs with how he's treating the situation.

No, Chicago needs Mayor Daley back. He knew what the fuck he was doing except for the whole fucking over everybody else except businesses spree he went on back in 09-ish. Every other time though, he was a pretty damn good mayor building parks left and right, giving support to the gay people living in the city, and other things.

unless you're upwards to 70 years old you're pulling this out of your arse just so you are aware
unless you're upwards to 70 years old you're pulling this out of your arse just so you are aware
No I am 19, but I am not pulling out of my ass. I am basing my information off of what I have been told by people I have talked to; and I admit this alone is hardly enough evidence to hold up in a debate. I however also base this on my studying modern gangs both on my own and in my old criminal justice classes, I assume everyone in this section has read the news stories of modern gangs and cartels killing massive amounts of innocent people. Even if the gangs were equally as aggressive as modern gangs new technology and an increase of total gangs and members causes more violence and more gang warfare.
I have tried to find good solid statistics but many agencies did not keep as good of statistics on what crime was gang/mob associated back in the day.
I can see how your point of view is a valid one and while I may disagree I don't see anything to be gained from debating it, too many of these threads turn to flame wars,
But concealed carry isn't allowed in Chicago. I thought that was supposed to stop crime!
