Off topic but why ban? Never been bannable in the past.
Bans show up in search, been able to ban for it since 17th December 2012. PM me instead of derailing the thread.
Retina™ Audio
You can't even hear the individual pixels!
It's news like this that makes me glad to be an Android user.
unfounded speculation about an optional extra in another brand of phone makes you glad to be an android user?
optional extra
If the rumour is true it WON'T be an optional extra. The idea is that apple would remove the standard headphone jack and force their own expensive proprietary headphones on you.
If the rumour is true it WON'T be an optional extra. The idea is that apple would remove the standard headphone jack and force their own expensive proprietary headphones on you.
There's literally zero evidence for that. It's a rumour based off of nothing. And if they wanted to force their own headphones on you, why would they say:
"If your headphones support, for example, noise cancellation, you can offer an app on your device that communicates with your headphones that controls how it operates," Walsh said.
The entire thing is aimed at accessory makers.
Maybe read the article?
Did you read the article? It's a personal blog that only makes speculation. [editline]7th June 2014[/editline] It literally says at the top:
[Editor's note: The original headline stated as fact that Apple was abandoning the headphone jack. This is informed opinion, so we added a question mark.]
Beats is unloading all it's old stock on ebay daily deals right now for about 80% off if you wanted to get a pair of the over-ear ones for $60 go do it now before they are gone. They may already be gone, I saw it yesterday
Did you read the article?
Well no. v:v:v
Off topic but why ban? Never been bannable in the past.
just think before post it's almost the same as meme reply
Just cut off the lead and solder/crimp on a female 3.5 jack, the lead connection will most probably be the same as any other headphones, just with a shitey proprietary jack. Problem solved.
except it wont? lightning is literally a device controlled port with 8 pins to do whatever it wants with
This would make sense if it would be used to power the headphones, for example my headphones need an amp. I highly doubt that they gonna use it for that though. Actually thinking about it, if this was the case then why would they sell headphones which need power even if they can just use something that doesn't need that much power?
couldn't they just plug it into the charger port since it backs as data as well?
Huh I don't think I ever noticed the lack of a headphone jack on the SP... What a bad move. ontopic: Apple is doing a huge dick move. Most of the Nokia phones I had came with the 2.5mm jack, while all my MP3 players and junk of the sort came with the regular 3.5. I had to connect an adapter to the phones if I wanted to hear stuff from them or use their own headphones. Both sucked ass, so I just spent the summer with my nano stuck in my buttcrack for like 10 miles riding a bycicle from the beach every day.
I hope they don't abandon the 3.5mm but i can tell they will.
I hope they don't abandon the 3.5mm but i can tell they will.
that's the death of the ipod as far as I'm concerned.
that's the death of the ipod as far as I'm concerned.
Uh isn't it already dead? I've not seen anyone with an iPod in years, everyone uses smartphones
Just cut off the lead and solder/crimp on a female 3.5 jack, the lead connection will most probably be the same as any other headphones, just with a shitey proprietary jack.
I hope they don't abandon the 3.5mm but i can tell they will.
Why would they? The 3.5mm is a completely fine standard that they have no reason to abandon lest they face huge backlash. Lightning powered headphones could be interesting, however, for things like noise-cancelling headphones which need a constant voltage to run.

A new standard (something akin to the magnetically connected Apple charger) would be nice.
>still using corded earbuds I use bluetooth for everything connected to my iphone. Hopefully they keep that. Derp sorry should have PM'D but I'm on my phone and dumb, sorry. Damage is done (User was banned for this post ("Not the place to discuss bans - You should know this" - Craptasket))
Everything should use quarter inch jacks
How did the news site manage to turn an extra function on a port into a negative aspect.
People are saying it's forced on to the consumer as if the only phone around is an iPhone. You can easily just get something better.
