New drug appears in Russia, eats away at flesh of users; causes them to literally rot to death
I find this disgusting, yet very interesting. Why would anyone let it get this far?
Same reason many are egged on by their friends in a car, start speeding and crash. Peer influence, "maybe just once, to try" and miss-information.
I wouldn't get myself hooked in the first place so no.
I think you lack the empathetic capabilities to understand my point.
Oh god...that's horrifying.
Someone using Krokodil. Also for some reason this reminds me of the Valkyr drug
Well, that's certainly very interesting watch... though I wonder why the doctors or whoever are treating them aren't amputating the limb before it spreads even higher. It's not like you can recover from Gangrene/Necrosis with time or disinfectant. The woman on the second video has literally her radius showing off and they didn't amputate the elbow yet to prevent further infections.
I don't think there is much they could. Even if they fully amputated the arm, she would probably still die from the looks of it. They also seem under trained, staffed, and under equipped. Enough for them to do a leg amputation with a guy in a chair, awake, with some metal string.
This is both terrible and incredibly sad. These people didn't choose that they wanted to take this drug (Okay, some might, I guess), they were forced into it because of them being poor and addicts. Terribly sad.
Holy shit, this can be used as a weapon or torturing method. :ohdear:
Doesn't the bone marrow do something incredibly important too? And wouldn't he lose that if he got his leg sawn off?

Russia has more heroin users than any other country in the world – up to two million, according to unofficial estimates. For most, their lot is a life of crime, stints in prison, probable contraction of HIV and hepatitis C, and an early death. As efforts to stem the flow of Afghan heroin into Russia bring some limited success, and the street price of the drug goes up, for those addicts who can't afford their next hit, an even more terrifying spectre has raised its head.
The home-made drug that Oleg and Sasha inject is known as krokodil, or "crocodile". It is desomorphine, a synthetic opiate many times more powerful than heroin that is created from a complex chain of mixing and chemical reactions, which the addicts perform from memory several times a day. While heroin costs from £20 to £60 per dose, desomorphine can be "cooked" from codeine-based headache pills that cost £2 per pack, and other household ingredients available cheaply from the markets.
It is a drug for the poor, and its effects are horrific. It was given its reptilian name because its poisonous ingredients quickly turn the skin scaly. Worse follows. Oleg and Sasha have not been using for long, but Oleg has rotting sores on the back of his neck.
"If you miss the vein, that's an abscess straight away," says Sasha. Essentially, they are injecting poison directly into their flesh. One of their friends, in a neighbouring apartment block, is further down the line.
"She won't go to hospital, she just keeps injecting. Her flesh is falling off and she can hardly move anymore," says Sasha. Photographs of late-stage krokodil addicts are disturbing in the extreme. Flesh goes grey and peels away to leave bones exposed. People literally rot to death.
Russian heroin addicts first discovered how to make krokodil around four years ago, and there has been a steady rise in consumption, with a sudden peak in recent months. "Over the past five years, sales of codeine-based tablets have grown by dozens of times," says Viktor Ivanov, the head of Russia's Drug Control Agency. "It's pretty obvious that it's not because everyone has suddenly developed headaches."
Heroin addiction kills 30,000 people per year in Russia – a third of global deaths from the drug – but now there is the added problem of krokodil. Mr Ivanov recalled a recent visit to a drug-treatment centre in Western Siberia. "They told me that two years ago almost all their drug users used heroin," said the drugs tsar. "Now, more than half of them are on desomorphine."
He estimates that overall, around 5 per cent of Russian drug users are on krokodil and other home-made drugs, which works out at about 100,000 people. It's a huge, hidden epidemic – worse in the really isolated parts of Russia where supplies of heroin are patchy – but palpable even in cities such as Tver.
WHAAAAA.
Wouldn't sawing his FUCKING BONE OFF be incredibly painful too?
I question that too, why the fuck didn't he scream when the bone was cut off? The channels in the bones have shitload of nerves, blood vessels and whatever else. It hurts shitloads even when you only break your bone, but getting it sawed off should be incredible pain....... or maybe this satanic drug rotted even the damn nerves in the bone :psyduck:
I haven't been shocked like this in a loooooong time. I usually don't flinch at gore, but this shit is just horrible. I can't even imagine the pain, or at least psychological trauma you can get from seeing your own body rotting to the goddamn bones, and knowing that you can't stop using the drug that does that to you.
Guys guys, it says in the description later the man received proper amputation

His entire leg was dead, the nerves inside the bones were dead.
A nuclear bomb is enough by itself, but imagine the civilian damage that could be caused by wide spread of this shit through normal water or maybe a sugar mix of this, would go right into the bloodstream wouldn't it?
[editline]22nd June 2011[/editline]
And why the fuck did they do whatever they did to the kid in the second video, the screaming was absolutely terrible, the reason I stopped watching.

The nerves have died long before the flesh falls off.
Is this shit radioactive? Because the effects would highly suggest so, if this radiates nearby cells to an extreme level, that would make the body just rot away. Wouldn't it?
What the hell? It's not radioactive. Why would it be?
-snip- I don't even know what I'm talking.
It's made from codeine.
Is this shit radioactive? Because the effects would highly suggest so, if this radiates nearby cells to an extreme level, that would make the body just rot away. Wouldn't it?
For fucks sake, are you stupid or what? How can you cook something radioactive from headache pills.
Oh god what is this I don't even...
I'm not too well on my physics lessons on radioactivity anymore, but if I remember, one of the three main radiation types has a very small area of effect, but extremely high amounts of radiation in that area, I think it was alpha rays. The kind of radioactive stuff that literaly doesn't hurt you until you swallow it, but if you do, you're fucked.
Would be even more extreme if you injected that into your veins or flesh.
Alpha particles, yes. And no it's not. This drug is not radioactive.
If I got addicted to this shit, i'd seriously kill myself with a gunshot wound to the head, I'd rather die by that than with this shit.
WHAAAAA.
I couldn't even fucking watch the second one, WHAT.
Wouldn't sawing his FUCKING BONE OFF be incredibly painful too?
I mean I skipped through both of em, and I don't even want to know what the fuck is going on in the second one.
Wow.
Fuck. Fuck, dude.
I'm scared to death not only by those videos, but also I keep thinking that some crazy ass motherfucker could turn this shit into a chemical weapon, even if its not gas, just pour it into the water supply and everyone rots away.
Fucking shit.
Wow.
I just want to scream.
remember, as per the article, when they're treated they're hopped up on so many painkillers and tranquilizers that they likely don't feel very much at all besides the pressure and ache of their bones snapping
i'd think the whole rotting flesh away would be more painful anyway
This would have never happened in the soviet era.
Oh god, not even once!
Fuckin' zombies man.
I sure hope that this will teach some folks to stay away from drugs in the first place.
This would have never happened in the soviet era.
If the Soviet Union came back then by 2015 all the druglabs would cease to exist, along with everybody associated with them.
This is terrible :ohdear:
I want to know how it's able to rot your skin though
This is horrible, at first I think "why would anyone do this?!"
But then you realise that they are addicted to heroin or whatever else, and they NEED to get their next hit, and if they don't have any money, it's not such a hard decision at that level of addiction.
Must be a terrible terrible position for someone to be in, I can't even begin to imagine life like that.
