Connecticut lawmakers reach deal on 'most comprehensive' gun limits in US
You can reload any rifle on earth quickly, thats how weapons are designed. Loading 5 big shots at a time is almost superior to 30 small shots.
I'm generally against magazine size limits because of the arbitrary scale and the fact that most shootings are done with low-capacity magazines anyway, but there is real world evidence where gunmen forced to reload have been stopped during their shooting. The Aurora shooter's weapon jammed after a few shots and the Arizona shooter was stopped when he went to reload his gun. People time themselves in their head reloading their guns at ranges in a cool environment and think every gun fight would follow the same way when it simply doesn't.
I live in Connecticut and I hate our legislators who are putting a bandaid on the issue. Adam Lanza was planning the attack for YEARS. He didn't just see a gun and decide to shoot children, he had chosen the target because they were easy targets. It's amazing stupid that we are not looking at the real issue, the people BEHIND the shootings.
that would involve dealing with the cause of the problem, not the problem of guns being fatal, that one is easier for politicians to deal with, unlike mental health funding and psychological evaluations

The Register reported that the bill would also strengthen penalties for gun trafficking and would expand the Board of Firearms Permit Examiners to include a mental health professional and a retired judge.
I've been noticing that even in a lot of action movies you don't ever see someone reload their gun. They usually carry multiple guns, so they can throw it away after unloading then grabbing a second gun out of their belt or whatever.
More on the mental health aspect

But the bipartisan agreement legislative leaders crafted in response to the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School also includes changes to insurance laws agreed to by both health plans and patient advocates. And they say the provisions will reduce barriers to treatment for people with private coverage.
The changes include requiring insurers to make faster decisions about whether certain urgent mental health and substance-abuse services will be covered, and making it easier for consumers to see what criteria carriers use in determining if care is covered.

The insurance changes are among several mental health provisions included in the agreement legislators are expected to approve Wednesday.
Other provisions include offering a "mental health first aid" program to help educators recognize signs of mental illness, doubling the number of Assertive Community Treatment teams providing intensive support to people with serious persistent mental illness living in the community, adding slots for case management for people involved in probate courts, establishing a program that provides psychiatric consultation to help pediatricians address mental health issues in their patients, and setting up a task force to study the state's mental health system and how it serves young adults.
The only thing you gun guys would harp on is mental health and this bill seems like a very comprehensive look into it. Why aren't you guys happy?
Because they're still trying to ban guns based on aesthetic features
I'm only harping about anything related to the AWB(or SAFE Act) and people asking for bans on private firearm sale.
Universal Background Checks, Mental Healthcare Checks, and Drug Checks, I don't have many issues with.

Thanks for atleast being nuanced in your approach instead of immediately throwing this bill under the bus and accusing lawmakers responding to things by writing laws as disrespecting dead children.
The Aurora shooter's weapon jammed after a few shots
And then he switched to a smaller magazine and continued on with his rampage. He only stopped when he fired all his ammunition and strolled out of the theater and waited to be arrested.
rocket launchers, .50 cals and grenade launchers do all of jack shit to modern tanks really
also consider unmanned drones, helicopters, and trained marksmen
Better tell the Syrians to cut that shit out, then...

Honestly, universal background checks are needed in the same respects as mental ones. People will proclaim the infamous, "gunshow loophole" but only gun shows in Arizona, I have not been checked over with a background check. North Dakota and trade shows in New York, I've been checked right at the door.
It's points like that where Universal BC's are required to ensure you don't get people jumping into gunshows to purchase firearms under the guise of being a legitimate buyer.
Private Sale(and background checks) could be easily done at local gunshops or local police departments under the suite of a trade check.

I have to apologize too because I am only against it based on the same things that Joe said.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my rantings.
I just hate it when people try to ban guns on features and looks, especially when they have absolutely no idea of their function.

yeah, cause the guy that owns something like this is totally going to register all of his mags.
what the flying fuck that must be worth a fortune
I'm honestly ok with gun control but the legislation being proposed in the US currently is pretty fuck awful. Can't see it doing a damned thing.
