A legit reason for America being fat (besides fast food and laziness)?

It depends what you eat/drink and how much.
I'm 16 . 52 kilograms and 182 cm. I hate being underweight.
I am willing to bet that I'm more underweight than anyone here.
I'm 20 years old, approximately 5'6", maybe 5'7", and I weigh around 100-105 pounds last time I checked.
Actually I guess considering my height I'm somewhat proportional.
I do ride my bike a lot, but that's all the exercise I really get.
Hah, I buy all my food organic
I also enjoy hiding behind beanpoles
6'2'' and 145 pounds
Fast food is no more unhealthy than the food you get at restaurants or make at home.
Uh yes you do.
A lot goes it in too it.
Genetics, current health situation, DIET.
You can exercise all you want, but it is pointless if you don't diet correctly and don't get the correct amount of nutrients and vitamins. Plus if you take in more then you can burn you're going to get weight gain.
Nutrients and vitamins are necessary yes, but as so long you burn off any excess calories from exercise, you won't gain weight.
I think I have a high metabolism. I basically eat anything I want, and I think I'm a few pounds underweight.
Burger King is too good to pass up.

Are you trying to tell me that fries from mcdonalds (fried/loaded with fat and preservatives and salt) are the same amount of healthy as the sandwich I ate today, which was turkey/cheddar cheese/whole wheat bread/spinach/spicy mustard

You are also way too skinny, that cannot be a good weight for your height.

Feel free to prove me wrong, I'm no nutritionist or something.
I eat well and I've never really risen above 170

That's completely untrue. Local farmers use pesticides and fertilizers to get more crop yield per acre so they can squeeze the most money off of their small land. Many large farms can afford to go organic while most local farmers use pesticides.
It's reversed. Because smaller farmers have less land to take care of, they have more dedication to their produce, so their quality goes up, with out the need of pesticides. I live in Southern New Jersey, which is ground zero for small farms and Farmer Markets, and I grow a nice garden of my own. I know this shit.
Larger farmers can't sustain large fields of organic vegetables because each plant needs more care with out the help of fertilizers and what not. And that would cause a need for more hired hands, which is more pay to employees than to the farm.

Yeah, great comparison you have there.
A more proper one would be a burger you would get at oh say burger king or checkers VS a burger you make at home. They're both fried and have the same ingredients, what exactly makes the former more healthy? Don't give me all that OH PRESERVATIVES nonsense; most fast food restaurants get their ingredients and such from the same companies that sell in super markets.
167 and 5'9, a little husky but not too bad. Seems to be about average
So you just need some testosterone ?
I don't even need exercise; i am exercise.
I don't see how anyone can let theirselves get fat, it's not that hard to work out in someway at least 2 or 3 times a week. It's pretty sad. I'm 149, 5'9.
5'8''

Oh well, I'd rather be a bit underweight then a bit overweight.
eh dude, you fall over dead very quickly if you're overweight

And what? I am not planning to live to 80 to be senile and unable to control my own bladder and utterly useless for the last 20 years.
You are on this forum

I'm a B that wishes he was an A.
Damn A's keep complaining about something I would kill for. :saddowns:
America is the perfect example of the modern society.
I don't blame it, it's just the consequence of such a great and exponential rise of technologies and overhaul life quality in the "North" (just a term to designate all the rich countries, the name coming from the fact all of them except of a few rare ones are located in the Northern Hemisphere). People don't have to suffer from the problems we had a while ago, at least most of them. The evolution of our society came to a sedentary life, which is a paradox since we ask us to work harder, better, faster stronger (more than ever, hour after, our work is never over...) every day of our life.
The combination of these two factors, fast paced working and slow paced life, come to the result we see here : we don't give a fuck anymore about our health because we are either too busy, or too lazy.
Hopefully the next industrial revolution (or more like the next ecological revolution) will lead people to think more about their health and appearance, and do real things to correct it, not only turn toward modern society and ask for some stupid cream or other miracle product supposed to make you lose fat. Hopefully, we will just be aware that we have a body, and that we must keep it in a good state, regardless of all the medical treatments you can get to correct all the diseases you can get because of a unhealthy body.
