New Halo 4 Skins Tied Exclusively to Action Figures
Bleh, McFarlane figures are awful. I can imagine people just throwing the figures in the garbage and buying these solely for codes.
While we're on the subject, NECA figures are awful and their articulation even after you free the joints is piss poor.
Why can't we have a western equivalent of Figuarts? Those are the best, man.
I don't get what the big deal is. The armour is stuff you can unlock, which don't affect gameplay, and the only "exclusive" things are the patterns which you barely notice in-game. I can understand if they were giving away exclusive weapons or exclusive armour, but they're not. Just different ways to colour your characters and weapons. Really, I'm having a hard time understanding why you people are getting so goddamn angry about this stuff.

Valve: Hey let's add a store that allows players to purchase items that affect gameplay
Facepunch: WOW VALVE YOU'RE THE BEST!
Those people don't say "VALVE YOU ARE THE BEST!" for adding a store. Many people didn't like the implementation of the store.
People love Valve for their good games and great supports (Free DLC, modding).
The thing is, those items have mostly more disadvantages than advantages. There are many cases where the
old weapons are still better than all the new ones. And also, you can trade and find items, so you don't need to pay.
Or you make your own items and make money with them.
TF2 has some really fitting items that benefits the community, however, this is not only expensive (looked on the amazon link and most were around $15, whereas most are under $1 on TF2) but they look like absolute shit. 343i are completely ruining the Halo name but I doubt it is their fault, it's probably Microsoft.

Y'know, except those sets that give you bonuses like plus health or immunity to headshots with no downsides just for adding the hat.
Oh no they get a bonus for buyong an action figure boo hoo :(

at least NECA figures look nice and can stand well. My NECA robocop is pretty neat.
McFarlane figures on the other hand are almost ALWAYS garbage. Sloppy paint jobs, they can never stand well, limbs are sometimes longer than the other (i'm looking at you McFarlane figure Rick Grimes)

This, Neca figures are more for show pieces, their Predator line is fantastic.

If there is any possible way, starting with nothing and not receiving anything free, get everything listed HERE (and whatever hats/misc make up the sets) within about 2 weeks without spending money, then you have a completely bulletproof argument.
You don't have to buy it. And besides, the skin is purely cosmetics. It's rather worthless but the figurine on the other hand would look good

I've never seen anyone wanting "every" item the game offers. Of course it would take ages to get everything listed there.
But that's the Free2Play way. You can play a lot and get those items or trade or buy them. It could be worse, like getting no drop at all, never. For anyone.
Of course you can get certain items only by purchasing them, but the main part of the game is the actual game and not the items.
In most cases the normal weapons still remain to be the best.
343: Hey let's add cosmetic optional items to the game

While it is a good point, I hardly defend Valve for their actions in TF2. In fact, I generally despise the way they have handled everything about TF2 and, I know I will get a lot of flak for this, but Valve is becoming an increasingly lazy and corrupt company.
I mean, I have read up on the absurd percentages they take from stuff on the Steam store. And let us not forget that Steam itself is basically glorified DRM (albeit good DRM). However, the biggest slight on Valve is just how absurdly long it is taking them to even start production on Half-Life 3. I mean, we like to joke about how long it is taking but it has seriously gotten to the point of bullshit. NO game, o matter how good, should take 6 years and counting, and we know it will take more than that.
So yeah, there is my little rant, all to basically say I wholeheartedly agree with you and then some. I know I am going to get destroyed by people here though, considering this is a forum entirely loyal to Valve. And keep in mind, I am not trying to say the people there are bad or anything (Gabe Newell seems to be the only person who actually tries anymore) but their businesses practices have gotten out of control.
Only one I'd maybe buy is the Storm Rifle one because there's no skin for that weapon by default.
I think it's a pretty neat idea honestly.
I would have been all up in this shit when I was a kid.

Except halo 4 costs $60
TF2 is free.
I hate Halo 4, I don't care for 343, but people complaining about this are dipshits.
1) It doesn't effect the game at all, and you're not at any loss for not having it.
2) Its not charging for the skin. If you're getting the figure, you get a skin along with it, its just a nice bonus.
I mean, I have read up on the absurd percentages they take from stuff on the Steam store.
Where? You mean the stupid thing Notch said that he knew nothing about? Valve doesn't talk about how much they take, and no one else does because they are contractually obligated not to. Even when you're just discussing putting a game on Steam, you are forbidden from releasing the amounts discussed. The only real thing we know is from them talking to school groups, and what we can gather from that is they take about 15% normally which is not a massive amount.
And let us not forget that Steam itself is basically glorified DRM (albeit good DRM).
Yeah, everyone know this. But its more than just DRM because it actually provides a unified service to the end user, giving them access to their purchased titles on any computer they may use as well as reasonably guaranteeing you will own your games at least until Valve goes down, and they've talked before about how they have a contingency in place for such a occurrence.
However, the biggest slight on Valve is just how absurdly long it is taking them to even start production on Half-Life 3. I mean, we like to joke about how long it is taking but it has seriously gotten to the point of bullshit.
They're not obligated to provide you with anything unless you have paid for it, and I'm pretty bloody sure you haven't paid them at all for Half-life 3/Episode 3.
NO game, o matter how good, should take 6 years and counting, and we know it will take more than that.
Half-Life 2 took six years.
Except halo 4 costs $60

If you want to do that, Halo 4 will fall in price to less than $10 in 5 years, and TF2 was $20 at launch.

TF2's microtransactions came right around the time of F2P.
Halo 4 is still going strong pricewise
TF2's microtransactions came right around the time of F2P.
It was a year.
Like, literally a year.
This reminds me of TF2 content and every game released ever. If you buy this game, hey you might get content with it from TF2 and TF2 gets content from it.
why is this so bad? honestly does FP find a way to nit-pick anything about a game thats not really liked by the community?
