Yeah fuck the legality of cutting down protected tree's, my house needs a nice looking floor. [editline]19th May 2012[/editline] Sure it's a just a tree, but it's still not legal what they did.
Yes it's not legal and that's about it.
Almost as old as Yoda, and they had to ruin it
To you people saying "no big deal" you're looking at it the wrong way. 1) the tree was in a national/state forest which means it like everything else in the park is protected under law. They broke the law doesn't matter what they did. If they poached the same value of beavers and other animals you fuckers would be all up in arms 2) the tree was 800 years old. That's amazing. It should have been protected more than the park. Just because it's a tree doesn't mean it's historic value is diminished. 3) cedar is very expensive. They easily made thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars from all the wood. Since they STOLE it, that counts as grand theft which is a federal crime. Not only that they stole it from a protected nature preserve. Yes. It's a tree. But they broke the law and made a fuck ton of money from it. They need to be caught and put in jail. A crime is a crime.
Sure it's a tree, but it's a landmark. It's kinda like if someone took a concrete mixer to Yellowstone and filled in Old Faithful, or built a Walmart over Stonehenge.
Who are you to say that?
it's like you people dont use your brains and just say stupid shit because it's all you're capable of doing
it's like you people dont use your brains and just say stupid shit because it's all you're capable of doing
Do you have anything against that?
Do you have anything against that?
i dont really think people should strive to be stupid, but whatever floats your boat
I hate it when I agree with you, but yeah. It's a tree. Have you looked outside recently? The fuckers are everywhere.

Also of note, Trees have no eyes. [editline]19th May 2012[/editline] [thumb]http://media.treehugger.com/assets/images/2011/10/tree-with-eyes2.jpg[/thumb] Oh fuck oh shit i take it all back don't hurt me please
I...oh no the trees, they're coming for me!
I want to stomp the logger's throat out with a steel-toed boot
Wow, you sure are bad ass dude! Saying you want to kill someone over a tree while at the comfort of a chair
Man, it's somehow like, my life wasn't changed in any way. Weird.
I hope the loggers get arrested, they deserve hundred thousand dollar fines each.
I hope the loggers get arrested, they deserve hundred thousand dollar fines each.
way to fuck up some poor axe man's retirement plans
way to fuck up some poor axe man's retirement plans
Well that's what you get when you illegally ruin 800 years of history. They knew what they were doing so they should know the consequences.
Oh, come on. That three hasn't had any Historical value.
way to fuck up some poor axe man's retirement plans
Yeah, the poor axe man who stole thousands of dollars worth of resources from property they don't own.
Oh, come on. That three hasn't had any Historical value.
It was large, majestic and awesome and had spent the last 800 years getting that way, what gives us the right to chop it down?

Its a crime, but don't make it out as they snatched a kid and dismembered and robbed him of his soul ALL when he was alive. And beavers are jerks.
What the fuck is wrong with humanity?
More like greed for money. If there was no money value in it, the tree would have most likely been left alone.
The park left the fallen tree at the site so that it could decompose, returning nutrients to the soil, Coste said, but since then poachers "have returned at their leisure without fear of consequence and cut up, hauled out, and taken away the tree in sections."
Are you serious? They cut the tree almost all the way down, so you finish the job for safety reasons, then you just let it sit there so they can come back and get it? Holy shit that's dumb, at the very least set up a damn camera so you can watch the fuckers steal the wood. Hell post a patrol car on the road, it'll be hard for them to haul away such a massive tree if you have just one fucking guy watching it.

Unless you'd like armed fucking guards to watch it waste away. Because that'd be a smart use of resources.
It's a tree, not some war superhero. A fucking tree. Unless the tree was a significant figure in history, it means nothing. Are you implying that things that are smaller and live less than us shouldn't be respected? What a perspective.
No, he means there are varying degrees of respect. It's just an achievement. Like how we're amazed by a dice roll rolling 6's 20 times in a row. It's something that doesn't happen all day and watching it is novelty and entertaining.
Its a 800 year old tree, it eventually would have died and fallen anyway. Yea its bad that some fuckers ended its long life span early but its a tree. If it was the last tree of its kind maybe it would be of some national interest to protect it, but its a ceder tree, and those fuckers are everywhere. Its cool that it was able to survive for 800 years, its sad to see it just cut down out of greed but its just a tree.
What a bunch of little wankers

[editline]20th May 2012[/editline]
Yes, lets pay a man who could be guarding something of actual importance to watch a log in the middle of the forest.
I guess catching these guys isn't of any importance then, so be it.
I guess catching these guys isn't of any importance then, so be it.
The damage is done, really.
Yes, lets pay a man who could be guarding something of actual importance to watch a log in the middle of the forest.
Yes because thousands of dollars worth of illegally obtained wood isn't important.
Some of those guys are sneaky bastards, they run their chainsaw exhausts into buckets of water to act as silencers.
Yeah, who cares about trees, right? They will grow back. Hell cut all the trees down. Who needs oxygen or freshwater afterall!
rude
What gets me about this: Poachers invest the time to get 80 percent of the trunk cut, it's a huge tree so you know they really wanted that tree if they did that. Park service cuts it the rest of the way for safety reasons then leaves it right there! What the hell did they think was going to happen? The poachers were going to say "Gee, we really wanted that tree but only if we cut it down ourselves, now I don't want it"?
