oh well, yeah, people are pretty fucked up and will laugh at a lot of disgusting crap
just have to roll with the punches, or in this case, the chuckles
Well somethings can be both 'funny' and tragic at the same time (Actual laughter is not indicative of something being funny), I'll admit chuckled a bit at the stupidity of it as a Darwin award but i also felt fucking horrible and sickened by the story morso.
No, I mean the idea of some one having a heart attack upon seeing it. That what made it humorous. Why? Cause its over the top.
Yes still tragic.
instead of using another chunk of wood via throwing it he uses his leg
how much of a fuck up can you be
Wow we get it, he fucked up, do you really feel it's necessary to throw in the insult?
I'm not denying it wasn't one of the dumbest things anyone could possibly do. I'm just saying it's disgusting that people find this hilarious.
Humor can be a coping mechanism
Should probably consider regulation for that but I don't think regulation could have really prevented this.
No amount of regulation can prevent pure stupidity, which is exactly what killed this moron.
As far as I know, NC falls under the same OSHA standards are the rest of the US. Morons dying like this comes down to employees being retarded and/or employers not providing decent PPE.
Dying at the hands (or rather gnashing metal teeth) of heavy machinery has to be one of the worst ways to go.

Man, I wish I was as perfect as you, must be great being perfect and looking down at a world of dumb humans from atop your cloud.
How hilarious. A young adults life was cut short by a moment of stupidity resulting in a horrendous death so horrifying to watch it gave a man a heart attack.
what the fuck is wrong with you people
If the moron was stupid enough to put a limb into or near a wood chipper then he was going to die horrifically some day whether or not this woodchipper killed him. It's natural selection at it's finest, and natural selection is hilarious.

I'm not perfect or the smartest man on earth but I'm smart enough to not put my damn legs in a wood chipper lmfao

idk, seems a bit fucked up to just shrug it off like that
I feel like all spinning death blade machines should have some kind of safety built into them at this point, like this buzzsaw:

reasonable enough, I'll remove it since it IS pretty unwelcome to say
Some of the posts in this thread holy shit how do you live with yourself. Let's victim blame someone who got ripped to shreds by heavy machinery. Why don't you tell his mother how he's a fucking idiot who deserved to die because lol survival of teh fittest!!!?
Too fucking edgy for me. Get the fuck over yourselves and show some compassion for once in your pathetic lives.

I don't see anyone saying he deserved it, just that it's pretty fucking stupid to put your leg into a wood chippper.
If the Darwin Awards were still around this kid would have won for sure.
Lots of Captain Hindsights in this thread.

Workplace accidents are a thing, grogginess and absent-mindedness happen quite often, only difference in this scenario is the guy paid for his accident with his life instead of just a limb or his job. If anything blame the fucked up company regulations allowing shit like this.
idk, seems a bit fucked up to just shrug it off like that
It's not like it's not sad but the whole incident reads like it came from a shitty comedy-horror movie. Theres inherent humor in stuff like this, and none of us are close enough to the victim to justify not finding humor in it.

You can blame this on anything but no person who isn't a complete fucking retard, (groggy, fatigued, exhausted, or otherwise) is going to put a limb in a fucking wood chipper dood.
I work in an industry where fucked up accidents do happen. I know people that lost their eyes because caustic-soda got sprayed in them because they weren't wearing safety glasses and I know people who have had steel girders break their backs because they walked by the wrong place at the right time. None of those people deserve what happened to them, but people who don't take proper precautions are fucking idiots.
most woodchippers I've seen have a big fat emergency stop button on it. Meaning people just watched him get pulled in and chipped up and did nothing.

Yes I'm sure that's what happened.

Yea I agree. One can easily come to this conclusion after reading a 2 paragraph article about the incident. Obviously his coworkers just watched him die for the hell of it.
most woodchippers I've seen have a big fat emergency stop button on it. Meaning people just watched him get pulled in and chipped up and did nothing.
yeah that's exactly what happened it had nothing to do with shock or mental anguish and the fact that pressing the emergency stop button isn't regular usage of the machine and that they may not have even been near the button I'm sure they just wanted to see him die
most woodchippers I've seen have a big fat emergency stop button on it. Meaning people just watched him get pulled in and chipped up and did nothing.
It wasn't even a matter of seconds before the machine got ahold of his foot and started tearing him to shreds. Of course people there hit the emergency button, but by then it was already too late. Nobody could really have stopped it, unfortunately.
Man, I wonder what the out-feed would've looked like. if that got on you I definitely would've ripped off everything I was wearing like they did.
Still, his last words were probably along the lines of "hey guys watch this" as most of these things all come from trying to show off.
I've gained a fear of woodchippers and want to stay away from them as much as possible after reading that other story about a man's young son who was only a toddler that got pulled into one trying to help his dad.
Using your foot is stupid but let's not judge. I noticed new people on jobs try to look like they know what they're doing, they're accustomed the the machines or whatever. They do shit like this.
It's much more relatable than some might think and should hit home a little

Yes, everyone who works in a dangerous industry and has had a workplace accident is a blithering moron, because we all wake up and go to work at 100% each and every single day for years, no exceptions.

What else were you expecting, honestly?

Uh, no, probably not..? Clearly any time someone dies in an industrial accident it was because they were showing off and trying to be a badass, instead of just suffering from a brief lapse of judgement while doing otherwise monotonous, repetitive action, right? He most likely didn't think anything of it.

If this happened to your son, daughter, or employee you would be singing a very different song.
Would you go "Oh pfft, my son was a fucking stupid cunt, I can just fuck my wife and have a smarter one later lol, natural selection right"?
