is $600 a month for three meals a day really that much, 600 / 30 days is 20 bucks a day, for three meals that's not bad, quit pretending she is bankrupting her family or something
it really is pretty damn expensive not enough to bankrupt her, sure, atleast not assuming she has a good income already but it's still ridiculously expensive and a huge waste of money
Bentham, why do you care? It just feels like you're taking it a little too personally. If some people want to rag on someone for doing something silly like spending an entire year eating at Starbucks, let them. Who's it hurting, seriously? It's not hurting her, that's for sure.
But you aren't going to change your mind or admit that you're on a tirade against her in this thread, and that your goal has been breaking down her character to make fun of each part of her life, just like most people in the thread, so have fun.
I made a one line joke on the first page and you exploded. THAT is why I'm mad at you. You tore into me because I made a single comment (that turned out to be correct even! I hadn't even seen the woman's blog!) But you're right, I'm not going to change my mind. I am however going to admit I was jabbing at her. Why? Because I was jabbing at her, because that was the point of the thread, was to jab at her. I'd love to know why you attacked me and me specifically in this, but you seem like you're done, so buhbye.
You're not mad at her? Then why did you use such harsh language in your post towards her? And why are you mad at me? I'm doing what you are doing, you're lashing out at her because you don't like her decisions I'm lashing out at you because you are coming off as an asshole. Look at your posts in this thread and tell me you've been making reasonable posts. You made a note on the first page that her blog said she was a professional photographer, but you didn't say it to be informative, you said it to stack onto the whole "lol hipster" chain of making fun of her identity. Tell me that was you not making assumptions. Your existence in this thread has been nothing more than tearing down her identity for the purpose of making fun of her. But you're right, you're not a horrible person for that. There's nothing horrible or pathetic about spending your time on an internet board making fun of people you don't know because there was an article about them making personal goals and sticking to them, like shopping at goodwill or eating at an establishment or whatever. You're the nicest guy ever, for real. So don't make this post to try to act like you're really a sensitive guy and you just disagree with her life, because your posts have been indicative of much stronger feelings than that. [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline] But you aren't going to change your mind or admit that you're on a tirade against her in this thread, and that your goal has been breaking down her character to make fun of each part of her life, just like most people in the thread, so have fun.
Go look at his first post and you're reply. You told him he's horrible for making a slightly cynical joke.
and her online profiles all say "professional photographer" too
How harsh.
When the fuck did I mention your grandmother? I'm not saying its the only reason why people get iPhones, they're great phones. I'm just saying that's a strong reason why they're popular with the hipster crowd.
chill out and stop hating on people because they like different things to you
And she's 40 fucking years old and acting like this. What a joke.
45 actually. She's aged 5 years after eating all the starbucks food
You guys, stop getting mad at things. Hey, didn't you hear me, stop being mad! Stop it! Stop getting fucking mad! I SAID STOP! STOP! STOP! WHY ARE YOU SO MAD!? I HATE YOU. IHATEYOUHATEHATEHATE
Why judge, you guys? Who gave you moral superiority?
If I use a MacBook, iPhone, and have a Starbucks gold card does that mean I'm a hipster?
Am i still allowed to make snap judgements about you though?
is $600 a month for three meals a day really that much, 600 / 30 days is 20 bucks a day, for three meals that's not bad, quit pretending she is bankrupting her family or something
Thats pretty bad actually when my total food cost is probably around $200-300/mo by myself including eating out. If I never ate out probably around $150 or so/mo (maybe $200 if I lived in the seattle area). 3X the cost of what it would normally cost to eat is not "not bad".
and her online profiles all say "professional photographer" too
Yes because once you use a phone to take a photo and/or Instagram something, the job you do as a profession no longer exists. It's like saying a professional race car driver is no be a professional because they drive a prius. Grow the fuck up. Why yes, professional photographers bring thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment with them everywhere, even casual trips to get food. For all you know she could be doing wedding photography or studio work. Were you expecting her to bring an actual camera around everyday just to take a picture of the Starbucks she bought and then Instagram it whenever she gets the chance? Um no, that's slow work flow and she knows it. Instead she uses the convenience of her smartphone so her professionalism in photography no longer exists eh? At least she isn't using a film camera. The best camera you have is the one on you and she had her phone. No problem with that.
She has a family with two children, a job to sustain this sort of behavior, a happy life. She obviously goes out pretty damn often in a nice city that she lives in. Quit trying to become some labor commissar and call her out on what appears stupid or wasteful. Better than just being at home all day on steam or facepunch.
But this is pretty true I think its pretty wasteful but if she's got the money to blow on it then why not. I'm sure other people think we are stupid for spending so much money on PC games, parts, peripherals, etc when all that stuff has a net benefit about as good as this lady's net benefit.
Am i still allowed to make snap judgements about you though?
Snap judgements are often poor choices, actually knowing the people/issues/things then making the informed decision is a much better idea.
Some people earn 8000 dollars a month. Not everyones someone that earns 1000 dollars a month.
why
Because she's having a mid-life crisis, but instead of fast cars she's buying hot drinks.
chill out and stop hating on people because they like different things to you
Are you even reading my posts? I like iPhones, I had one for years… Where did I imply I didn't like them? Where did I insult people who do?
Me and a couple buddies went on holiday in Amsterdam last week, and we had nothing to eat but fastfood stuff for about 4 days. Proper restaurants are fairly expensive up there and we didn't have a lot of money. The results were pain, sorrow, and a hotel bathroom in Aalsmeer smelling like various layers of hell. Now I can't even fathom what the end result of 365 days of fast food would be.
starbucks is by no means fast its just stuff that has already been made and packaged like a week before its sold
no it's because iPhones have been established as being great phones for years and many people just stick with apple phones because they don't want to have to lose all of the apps etc they've bought on itunes. I don't think my 55 year old mother bought an iphone because she wanted to be a hipster lmao
Yeah pretty much this. Apple makes awesome stuff. If you disagree you probably have a loyalty card at the Flame Shirt & Fedora Emporium.

I swear last year that would be called "using discretion" or "having an opinion".
Computer parts and video games have way more benefits than starbucks' garbage food and lasts longer than however long it takes a 40 year old 'hipster' to eat a danish
"way more benefits" of video games and hardware is entirely subjective.
Yeah pretty much this. Apple makes awesome stuff. If you disagree you probably have a loyalty card at the Flame Shirt & Fedora Emporium.
Haha if you disagree with me you MUST be a neckbeard :rolleye: in all seriousness apple makes decent products, but they aren't exactly on the leading edge of innovation. they spend a lot of money taking existing ideas and making them more ergonomic instead of trying to redefine how we use them from scratch. there's a huge history of ideas that apple has stolen and improved, and it's true apple has revitalized some markets, but i don't know if i would call their products "awesome"

Use anything they've made in the last 8 years and you'll see that this is true. UX accounts for a lot. No-one has does Mobile OS UX better than Apple. And what they've done is hard to beat. There's nothing with UX that is anywhere near as good. Their laptops are similarly great in the UX department. A lot of that is simply due to the time they spent making the trackpad good. I think that some people tend to overlook that or even ignore it, to push points about hardware etc - but things that lack good UX will put the vast majority of people off. That's why Linux isn't popular at all with anyone who can't be bothered with the hassle of it, and why people do actually use Apple products. Also explains why Windows 8 is such a flop. Terrible UX in the name of appearing innovative. Usable, yes, if you can be bothered or force yourself to endure it. But familiar it is not.
"way more benefits" of video games and hardware is entirely subjective.
Uh no you're getting considerably more bang for your buck, and eating starbucks doesn't improve things you do in every day life.
Uh no you're getting considerably more bang for your buck, and eating starbucks doesn't improve things you do in every day life.
Umm, depends on what you get. Coffee? Well there's some energy and nutrition in that. Everything else? Well you're still getting calories, carbs, fat, sugar, salt. Therefore it does improve things you do in life. Just because you don't feel like Starbucks improves your life, it doesn't mean it won't for anyone else.
Anyone else getting heavy "mid life crisis" vibes from this story and the woman in it? I mean, 40 years old, dresses like a 20 year old, uses a cliche saying 20 year olds would think is SO DEEP as her name, and is a hipster.
Umm, depends on what you get. Coffee? Well there's some energy and nutrition in that. Everything else? Well you're still getting calories, carbs, fat, sugar, salt. Just because you don't feel like Starbucks improves your life, it doesn't mean it won't for anyone else.
Most of the sugars fats and oils you find in fast food pretty much inhibits your body from absorbing most of the 'good' nutritional value you would find in the product. Coffee goes through you in like an hour. Your body is only given enough time to absorb sugar, caffeine, probably a fraction of the miniscule amount of calcium you would find in a creamer, the short time your body gets to process also leaves you with smelly fiber-less oil-shits that are just plain uncomfortable. It also raises the fuck out of your blood sugar which makes your body store fat. Any liquids you had in you prior to the consumption of the coffee are pretty much useless because of the coffee rushing your digestive tract, and you flush out most of the potential hydration. Starbucks might be good for Wi-fi and muffins, (if day old, already crystallizing muffins that are low in fiber but high in butter and sugar is your thing) but it stops there. Starbucks only improves your life if you're looking for a place to take a break, and there are much cheaper venues for such.
"WHY? am I doing this challenge? Or WHY? will I do any challenge in the future? Because I LOVE being human and I LOVE the privilege of being able to ask the question WHY? in the first place!"
Uhh, ok? Thats strange.
She even managed to throw the word "privilege" in there and is wearing about six clashing articles of clothing, including black-framed glasses. I can feel a knit cap materializing on my head just looking at this.
They're popular with the majority of people. Not just 'the hipster crowd'
Never implied otherwise...
