But yeah, great lad.
Reminds me of -'Let's eat Grandma!' or, 'Let's eat, Grandma!' Punctuation saves lives- phrase.
But that's really sweet. What an amazing guy.
Facepunches reaction if this was an american soldier: BLWAGEAGEGAEIOGJEAI AMERICA IS BAD! THE LITTLE GURL WAS IN DANGEOR AND AMERICA IS BAD SO THE SOLDIER I S FACIOST FAT PIG! BAD AMERICAAAAAAAA!
What film is this from? Or it was a pretty similar quote anyway.
Say what now?
Hi, normal people say I'm married to my wife, not I'm married with my wife.
No, but he signed up to be part of it. He's part of the problem.
Oh okay, so if this guy wasn't in the war, the war in the middle east would end?
The shooter probably didn't check his range. AK rounds lose velocity relatively quick over distance.
British army helmets are brand new, and pretty strong, in the first month or so they saved 3 or 4 guys lives cause the same thing happened to them that happened to this guy.

Shut up toss pot, really, you think that afghanistan should be left under the control of the Al Qaeda and taliban?
People who fucking terrorise the local populace and fucking stone them for the slightest of misdemeanour's, yeah great idea.
The soldiers are there to try and help the local populace, rebuild schools, roads, trade routes and shit for the locals, and you think we should just fuck off?
Well allow to just say this, that would be a bad idea.
An interesting divide I've recently noticed is that in the US, being a soldier is regarded in terms of duty, honour and patriotism, whereas in the UK it's treated much more in terms of a career and a job.
It may give some answers to the differing extremes of opinion on the fighting for US soldiers compared to the much more moderate attitude to the fighting in the UK.
Or perhaps it's just the extremist society of the US, I'm not sure
Either way, good job mr Murfitt, if I ever meet you I'd happily buy you a drink
Article name made it sound like he dived infront of her or something. Not taking the shot is just common sense really.
When you're in a situation where you could easily be shot aswell then it does take restraint to not take the shot for you're own good but I see where you're coming from.

"The Problem" has been going on for decades and probably will for decades more.
Supposedly a hero soldier, shot to head, passed out. A girl didn't die.

Do you even know why?
It might have something to do with the way the UK and US drew the political boundaries of the Middle East with no regard to ethnicities. Kind of like how in Iraq there are 3 ethnic groups in that country who all hate each other, and they're all cut off from the rest of their group.
It's the UK and US's fault that the Middle East is the way it is. More intervention isn't going to help one bit.
So as opposed to trying to help we should just leave them in their current state?
Great idea, why did no one think of this before?
This is going to come across horrible. Apologies in advance before anyone calls me a heartless (insert generic expletive here).
While this little girl's life may indeed have been saved, and that's all fine and dandy, civilian casualties are unavoidable and sometimes necessary. What if a whole bunch of ragheads attacked a NATO base holding little kids in front of them? What if they did this every time? If all the soldiers threw down their weapons or refused to shoot, the entire base would get slaughtered. Sometimes you've got to shoot back even when civilians are at risk, or you might as well not bother fighting at all. This is why I respect Israel and the IDF: they don't let people using human shields deter them in a warzone. And you shouldn't, unless you like losing, of course.
Another thing that bothers me is that Middle Eastern culture views women badly, to say the least - I'd rather be dead from a missed shot than alive as a woman in that hellhole. As harsh as it may sound, he probably should've gone forward with the shot anyway. It would've been more merciful than living in the horrors to come when the country reverts after a total withdrawl - the women, whatever status they may have gained so far, will end up being stepped on again further down the road after we're gone.
I vaguely agree with you. It's like why governments have a policy of not negotiating with terrorists - once the terrorists realise their methods work, then they keep on doing it.
Where are his medals :colbert:
He'd better get promoted or at least get a medal.
