I think you're getting Paul Ryan mixed with Rand Paul.
Paul Ryan loves Ayn Rand. It was kind of a Bioshock joke.
What about a town like mine that relies ont he aerospace industry? Most of our businesses are suffering because of this.
I'm sure there's a few towns like yours, but the basic point is that a vast majority of Americans aren't affected by this and thus, sadly, don't really care all that much than saying a few angry words at the news and moving on in life.
What the fuck are you people doing, people have uprooted their corrupt governments for less. You know damn well nothing is going to change by itself and you talk about wanting change all the time but do nothing.
People in America seem to have this uncanny ability to believe that if they bury their heads in the sand, it will fix itself.
People in America seem to have this uncanny ability to believe that if they bury their heads in the sand, it will fix itself.
I'm sorry that most people here aren't ready to throw their lives away at the drop of a hat. [editline]10th October 2013[/editline] It's funny too because a violent revolution in America wouldn't just destroy America, it'll hit the world economy very hard.

And since America 'shutdown' the price of petrol here actually shot down 10 pence so that makes me happy.
They're CON-gress not progress. That's why shit never gets done.

The whole point of a democratic republic is to have the ability of the populace vent there frustrations of the government by voting out the bad and hopefully voting in the good. Violent revolutions are for against dictatorships and monarchies.

Especially considering half the country votes for the people that do this stuff in the first place. [editline]10th October 2013[/editline] Oh, and the Republicans are the least conservative of our parties if you look at third party options. So they can't even be replaced with a third party, that would just make things worse.

The voting rate in America is atrocious and having a hopeless feeling that "nothing I do will matter anyway" is just adding to the problem, not helping it. [editline]I <3 libertarianism[/editline] It's not even about parties. America votes for the individual, or at least are suppose to. Instead, we see Person A is a Republican and Person B is a Democrat and vote without realizing that each individual representative has his own views and extreme ideas on how the party line is. Voters need to look into each of the candidates they're voting for and look at who really is looking to help the US, not what we have now.
Pretty soon AIDS will have a higher approval rating than US congress.
Pretty soon AIDS will have a higher approval rating than US congress.
I never quite understood how diseases like that have an "approval rating" at all :v:
If someones too lazy to get off their ass and go vote then I don't want those people voting at all. They obviously don't care so they won't make any kind of informed decision

I agree that would make things far far worse since most people that don't care would just vote for the first name they see.

It should be "research and go vote"
Australian news for you.
i live in canada and ive honestly heard nothing about it on the news, i wouldnt know the government was shut down if it wasnt for the internet
i live in canada and ive honestly heard nothing about it on the news, i wouldnt know the government was shut down if it wasnt for the internet
Clearly you don't watch the Lang O'Leary Exchange. They've had much to say on how it effects us.
To be fair a congressional subway and toxic waste transport are basically the same thing
Yea this coupled with the fact that Democrats are blaming the Republicans and vice versa, no one is blaming the people in office, the system, or the voters instead. Personally I'd love to see a bill that, if congress fails to pass a budget for the next fiscal year all members of congress are ousted and new elections occur during a brief government shutdown. If that's too strict/demanding they sure as hell don't deserve to get paid 6 figures during a shutdown. They really don't deserve to get paid 6 figures at all actually.
They really don't deserve to get paid 6 figures at all actually.
5 figures is enough. Allow a working class person to live a comfortable life while in office. I can see 6 figures actually being fair since that job could probably be really challenging if done correctly.
Same reason the people of Rome didn't rise up against the Emperor every time something bad happened - they have their bread and entertainment.
It's funny watching a civilisation collapse from the inside. It's a lot slower than history books make it seem.
It's funny watching a civilisation collapse from the inside. It's a lot slower than history books make it seem.
Civilizations never collapse. They fade.
Pretty soon AIDS will have a higher approval rating than US congress.
For a very rare type of people, AIDS is a fetish. So obviously there'll be a handful upvoting it.
Civilizations never collapse. They fade.
True, but in the future this time will probably be considered the beginning of the fall of the 'Western World' and the beginning of a more global, connected world.
Congress needs term limits.
And minimum wage pay. [editline]11th October 2013[/editline]
What the fuck are you people doing, people have uprooted their corrupt governments for less. In any other country this would be labelled corruption.
True, but in the future this time will probably be considered the beginning of the fall of the 'Western World' and the beginning of a more global, connected world.
The western world consists of a vast number of countries other than America. The US withering won't bring down all of 8,000 years of western culture and history :v:
