Ecuador offers WikiLeak's founder Assange residency, no questions asked

Ecuador is just a puppet from Venezuela, and it's not safer than the place he is living right now.
I know South America cuz I lived there, and he could easily get assassinated by a thug who was giving 5$ to kill him.
Bad idea.
south america is one of the most turbulent and corrupt regions in the fucking world
assange would have to be in seriously rough shape to go there
Yes there is lots of corruption in certain places.. But there are secure locations in south america. It's pretty ignorant to label an entire continent like that. It's like saying everyone in America is a fat fuck.
Ecuador is pretty unstable. I mean, a friend of mine had to leave the country because the situation was unstable and six months later this failed coup begins.
Then again, the President just walked out bulletproof vest-less and said "If you want to kill me, kill me, but I'm not backing down" which leads me to believe they have a government that is either honest or badass, I can't decide.
Still a nice gesture from Ecuador's end regardless of hidden motives.
This makes me think of Ecuador as badass.
This is stupid of him. Right now, we have no idea where he is. If he goes to Ecuador, then we'd know exactly where.
I don't trust kindness either.
I never have.

Why would he leave Neutral Sweden?

Hes a rapist in Sweden.
Hes a rapist in Sweden.
Hahaha
If I were him, I'd purchase Sealand or something. Maybe go to the antarctic.
I wanted Switzerland to take him up.
I wanted Switzerland to take him up.
That'd be nice.
US government won't kill him. If they do, he'll be a martyr. If he dies in anyway, as such a high profile target for the government, no story will over ride the fact he died while the US hates him. The US will get the blame, and they'll be fucked. They won't kill him.

Bradley Manning did it to be a douchebag, at least that's what I got from the chat logs that were used to track him. He just wanted to show people how cool he was.
Assange, on the other hand, as much as I dislike him, has a pretty noble goal and is releasing these with a political agenda; in this case, government transparency.
Ecuador is a beautiful country. Assuming it's not a trap he really should go.

He can chill with George the lonely tortoise, and eat cavies.
Here's to you, Ecuador :3:
Turns out there was no formal invitation after all:
Ecuador hasn't invited WikiLeaks founder to visit, president says
(CNN) -- Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa said Tuesday night that his country has not invited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for a visit, as was widely reported.
A statement from Ecuador's foreign ministry this week appeared to offer the controversial Assange an invitation to discuss a trove of leaked documents. The ministry also offered to process a request for residency, if Assange chose.
But a statement from the Ecuadorian Embassy in the United States said that was not the case.
"While there was some confusion in the media flowing out of Quito yesterday, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has clarified that his country has not invited WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange to Ecuador," the statement said.
In Ecuador, Correa said that his country has not made a formal invitation to Assange and that the ministry declaration, made by Deputy Foreign Minister Kintto Lucas, was "spontaneous" and personal in nature.
Here's a theory what if its a trap?

Your theory was brought up on the other page.

By somebody else.
Awwwww Ecuador, you shouldn't have!
You guys don't think that perhaps Ecuador has their own agenda to fulfill with this leak business themselves?
I think it's a little deeper than Ecuador just trying to stick it to America or some crap like that. If Ecuador is interested in other particular countries in Latin America as the leaks seem to suggest possessing information of, I can totally see Ecuador being nice now for show.
[editline]2nd December 2010[/editline]
Oh what? four posts up. Didn't see that bit of information. Not so formal afterall.
:foxnews: Assange incidentally killed in U.S. backed Raid of suspected Drug Cache in Ecuador! :foxnews:
Yes an army of 25,000 poorly trained and poorly armed could stop America from coming in and getting him.
I do not understand why a country like that would want to risk any potential run in with America.

Because no ones going to fucking invade them at risk of political suicide, but hey, the world can be retarded too.
The army should go to where he is and shoot him. He might as well be a terrorist.
It's a trap! It's just like when Valve 'hired' the guy who leaked HL2.

So are you just sort of retarded, or are you totally fucking retarded?
