According to Dutch news reports, a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the distributed denial-of-service attacks that have been launched against a number of websites this week, including MasterCard and PayPal.
The attacks, which have made the headlines in the last couple of days, have seemingly been in support of the controversial WikiLeaks whistle-blowing site and its high profile founder Julian Assange.
Details are very sketchy, but it is reported that the unnamed youth - who was arrested in The Hague - is in police custody and is being interrogated by detectives from the Dutch National High-Tech Crime Team.
Computers have also been seized, and it appears that the authorities are not ruling out further arrests. Last night, Dutch broadcasters reported that the police visited the offices of LeaseWeb and EvoSwitch - two firms, believed to be providing internet services to the Anonymous group who have co-ordinated the attacks.
Of course, it is highly unlikely that the attacks are coming from just one part of the world.
As I said just earlier today, denial-of-service attacks are illegal - and you would be very foolish to participate in them, as the penalties can include lengthy jail sentences.
PFFT! Haha! One down, several million to go.
Fixed that for you, you won't stop them, all this is gonna do is weed out the idiots who aren't using a proxy during the attacks.

Aparently Anonymous is no targeting the websites of the police and the public prosecutor (I think that's the correct translation), because the boy was arrested. The boy has also been questioned, and has confessed.

You cannot use a proxy during an attack, and the reason this guy was cought, is because he was one of the operators of the IRC, he controlled the hivemind. It's also not several million, but between 75.000 and 100.000.
and that , good friends , is why rules 1 and 2 exsist
Funny how quickly they arrest people for ddosing these sites, yet they still cant find people who bombarded wikileaks.org?

wikileaks.org is claimed by the US gov, not bombarded. They simply tracked the IP of one of the IRC operators, and found out it was some dutch 16 year old, not that hard tbh.
Funny how it's legal for the government to take down websites without any trial or evidence, but when the people they're supposed to represent do something they get arrested.
