Tony Stark is a billionaire engineer. He built an arc reactor out of stuff that was supposed to make a weapon of mass destruction.
Peter is just a smart high school student.
There's quite a big difference.

Tony is an expert in the field of high-end technological wonder-babble. Peter is secretly the worlds leading scientist on the niche subject of SPIDER WEBS. No shit Spiderman isn't building powered body-suits with miniguns.

"Well I'm sorry but I'm not Tony Stark"
I have a Spider Man comic from the early 2000's when 3D rendering was becoming popular. Marvel decided that a 3D rendered comic book would therefore be a good idea. If the thread is still going tomorrow (it's 3AM here) I'll upload some photos.
The quality is, well, what you would expect from a Garry's Mod comic circa 2007.
Peter Parker has to watch YouTube videos about magnets. That's just tells you everything you need to know about this movie. It's stupid. This Peter Parker is stupid.
I never liked the whole gritty superhero fad. I think that is simply contradictory.
The only thing that managed to pull it off half decently is the Dark Knight, excluding Rises and Begins though.
Not that they're bad movies but I just can't take them as seriously as they take themselves.
I think the reason Batman works well being dark and gritty is because he has the most realistic "superpowers". He is just an human with close combat training and really high tech gadgets that actually exist in real life, he could realistically exist. So if he existed in real life, the crimes the villains commit would ofcourse be viewed much less lightheqrtedly and would be a lot more likely to have more sinister and realistic motives. Hence why Batman works being dark and gritty

I remember thinking that the only reason that this part of the movie exists is because they think the public is too uneducated to understand something as basic as magnets.
It didn't really bother me that Peter had to look it up in the movie in regards to it making him look like an idiot when he's supposed to be a genius, it bothered me that the reason that the scene even exists is because some rich director thinks the people watching his movie are all knuckle dragging barbarians that need to be spoon-fed science fiction.
Peter Parker is one of the smartest people in Marvel
Dude is as smart if not smarter than Hank Pym. Peter also got IQ scores similar to Reed when they were the same age. Plus, the kid makes serums for stuff against his villains every now and then
Really, Spiderman is one of the top minds in Marvel but he's poor.
Also sticking to walls won't fuck up your entire biology. You might as well say "Why doesn't he have 8 arms and more eyes"
Really comparing Spiderman to any average high school student is unfair when the guy was a full blown genius.
The fact Peter makes the stuff he does despite being poor as shit and being under resourced shows how gifted he really is.
If he's so ingenious, why not use his outstanding gifts (superpowers or genius) to earn some cash instead of doing the stupid photographer thing and financially struggling?
I understand that he's meant to genuinely be intelligent, but the writers like to make him conveniently stupid all too often for drama's sake.
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 1 & 2 are the best movies out of all the spider-man movies. Hands down.
The Amazing Spider-Man movies are really bad in my opinion. The only thing they got right was that they looked more like the comics, but the acting/writing/casting/plot/what-have-you, is awful.
I think honestly that if they write the next movie like TASM2, it'll probably be the worst spidey movie ever. They couldn't handle 2 enemies at once, it had bad acting and stuff like that, and in the next movie they have to introduce every single baddie of the Sinister Six, they also have to start the Mary Jane relationship...
I really hope Marvel Studios will have their own version of Spidey for the Avengers, even if i like Andrew Garfield, but i honestly wouldn't want to see his mediocre movies being canon with the avengers' movies

ASM2 had the best Spidey suit ever though. Hands down.
because i dunno it could be because its a COMIC, just throwing the idea out there
But when it comes to shooting web out of his wrists you can't have that because it's too UNREALISTIC
web shooters were put in so that the writers could have 'dramatic' moments where he runs out of web (such as swinging around buildings)
in reality, they are dumb nerd shit that a spider mutant shouldn't need, and if you disagree you are also a confirmed nerd
having a spider mutant who can't create webs is like making a fish mutant who can't breathe underwater, dumb as fuck
If you take away Peter's webshooters then you're taking away his ingenuity.
Webshooters, Spider Tracers, and his gadgets are all there to promote the idea that Peter is smart and being Spiderman is more than just him having Spider powers.
Also you're really stretching if you want him to have organic webbing. Spider's build webs strand by strand
Petey however shoots ready made webs and there's a demonstration on its flexibility. Not only that, you'd have to rework several entire systems in Peter's body to even make this work.
Super Strength, Spider Sense which is really Pre Cognition, Wall Crawling, Super Agility are all just enhanced human traits
Spiderwebs are fucking ridiculous. And again they go into this at least trying to be somewhat believable. Spiderman doesn't really just throw all logic to the wind in the comics or at least in the earlier ones.

He can also use his web cartridges as explosives.
Honestly trying to shit on Marvel for being creative and not just dumping innate Spider traits onto him is really lame, shame on you Paramud. Comic's at least try to make some things believable and interesting.
Organic Webbing is something a lazy writer would come up with. Peter's web cartridges play a role and are more versatile than Organic webbing will ever be.
Like the most interesting things you can do with "Organic webbing" is Peter ran out and is now fatigued or something story wise.
By taking away Peter's gadgets your simplifying his character.
Really I blame the Sam Raimi movies for this. Peter's been using web shooters for 40+ years and now people have a problem with it?
arguing for organic webs also falls under your "dumb nerd shit" genius.

no you're right, the hero called spider man, whose powers are derived from a spider's bite, whose costume and logo are that of a spider, should be naturally unable to do what spiders are primarily known for doing
we should have bird man who has to buy economy class as well, get him on the team

Spiders don't shoot fully formed webs from the ends of their legs. If you want his powers to reflect a spider that much he should just leak sticky gunk from his stomach.

Well following that logic shouldn't he also produce some form of venom, and other stuff various spiders do?
Shouldn't his weakness be bathtubs then?

They don't have internal skeletons either but I don't see you griping about that
Wait, didn't Spider-Man 3 have 3 villains as well?
Against raimi's objections.

Isn't that supposed to be the Vulture? :v:
I like the wrist mounted webshooters because it gives Spidey more versatility.
They can be targeted and destroyed (even though he's pretty OP on his own) but taking out the webshooters slows him down pretty well.
Alternatively, he can customise them. For all the faults in ASM2 (and having only just watched it recently, there were a LOT of faults), I liked how they showed Peter improving on his webbing so that Electro couldn't just zap him with it, that inkling of innovation that'd be there for later movies.
But fuck Amazing Spiderman 3 ever coming out, what a shitshow.
