Sure, thanks for asking. The post was a tongue-in-cheek jab at the practice of scapegoating one's opposition, but more specifically at how Bush and Republicans were footing the blame for most of the early problems of Obama's terms, at least from what I could tell.

do you mean to imply that obama's policies caused the housing debt crisis?

Obama became the president the day he was sworn in, it doesn't mean that everything that happened after that day related to his actions.
Some of the shit Bush and Clinton got rolling hit the US when Obama was president. That isn't his fault.
The reason people are like that is because they grow up in environments where that is the norm, so you need to take them out of that zone and show them other viewpoints in a positive environment. If you reach out and try and befriend them it'll be far more effective at changing people's minds than dismissing and mocking them.
Anger is easy, compassion and patience aren't.
Anger is easy and if your verbal opponent prefers anger over compassion and patience. Well then its going to be hard to convince them.
What if they don't want to leave their zone? What if they don't want to be "reached out to"? How do you reach out to people on a larger scale if they clearly do not want you and do not trust you.
Not all too long ago I was made aware of the fact (personal source I cannot link evidence sadly) that some people in America voted for Donald Trump in the genuine belief that man is the anti christ. I want you to look at the previous sentence again in the hope that you might realize the significance of this as a hardcore christian voting for the anti christ is nothing short of insanity.
I can't think of any words or any amount of patience or compassion that could feasibly have changed his mind in 2016.
For 2020 we will need something in addition to patience and compassion since alone they will not triumph against the odds we face today.

I'm not saying you'll be able to convince everyone, but you'll have an easier time bringing people over to your side if you truly try engaging with them. And sometimes it'll feel like you're bashing your head against a wall, but any small progress made is worth it.
The reason we have such a great divide in this country is because people are too quick to generalize the other side, and don't bother truly trying to understand where the opposition is coming from. If you want to try to heal the divide, you need to stop yourself from being the enemy they think you are. The second you start mocking or dismissing your opponent, you lose any chance of gaining their support.

As soon as I see them start, I will consider doing the same myself. But as long as we have individuals advocating for the genocide of liberals, on this forum no less, I care little for what they think and offer no compassion or sympathy to them.

Well that's the problem. You're not supposed to wait for the other side to be the better man, that's not how it works. Saying you're allowed to be rude because the other side is rude only contributes to the cycle of division.

So be it.

Is this what you want?
If you're not going to attempt to convince anyone on the right side of the spectrum that our viewpoint has some validity, we're not going to be able to solve this ongoing tribal-esque problem, and trying to make this country a better place is going to be exponentially harder.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were thinking the exact same thing about us.
